💔 What a horrible, senseless death.
Absolutely unprotected, Iryna Zarutska was stabbed — helplessly dying, even as she was surrounded by other people. No one should leave this world like this.

Iryna came to the United States as a Ukrainian refugee, seeking safety and peace after escaping the horrors of war. She dreamed of rebuilding her life here, far from bombs and fear.

The Ukrainian Embassy offered their help to send her body back to Ukraine, but her relatives told us that Iryna loved America with all her heart. She found hope here, she wanted her future here. That is why we want Iryna to be buried on this land she embraced as her own.

At CICM Immigration Legal Services, we work with Ukrainian refugees on a daily basis. We are still in shock over everything that has happened.

🕯️ Rest in peace, Iryna. You will not be forgotten😢
