Power Book Bags We are a 501(c)(3) that distributes literacy materials to underserved children in Northern Lower Michigan. PoWeR! stands for Play, Write, Read.

Help us by volunteering today or donating at powerbookbags.org/donate! Our mission is to increase children's experiences with language, literacy, and human interactions to better understand themselves, communicate with others, and connect with the world. When children PLAY and WRITE and READ, they engage in meaningful interactions, practicing crucial behaviors and skills necessary to build strong

language and literacy abilities that will better equip them for life! Since 2016, we have distributed over 188,000 books and nearly 40,000 bags filled with literacy supplies like books, crayons, and create-your-own-story booklets to children! Currently, we are in 20 counties in Northern Lower Michigan, partnering with local schools, preschools, Early Head Start, WIC sites, Women's Resource Centers, libraries, and family sites of assistance such as food and baby pantries to share literacy with kids. Did you know....

CHOICE is a key component of PoWeR! Book Bags. When children have choice, they are more likely to value and treasure what was selected and most importantly, they receive the message that we believe in them.

We believe in our Little Learners and love watching them find a new favorite book to read again and again.
