What a fun and unforgettable Saturday in Sutton.

The Sutton Farmers Market and Sweetheart Festival was full of life, laughter, and so many new faces. We loved meeting visitors from near and far, learning more about the game, and sharing a little piece of our heritage and community with you.

From our costume contest to karaoke, and everyone who simply stopped by to enjoy the day with us, thank you for being part of it. You brought the energy and made the event something special.

Our royalty had an absolute blast experiencing the Wasteland and getting to learn about it all alongside you. It is not every day you see that kind of crossover, and it made the day even more memorable.

Events like this remind us how much we enjoy bringing people together and celebrating what makes our town unique.

Thank you all for spending your day with us.

We cannot wait to do it again. ❤️

⚡️WELCOME TO THE WASTELAND, DWELLERS⚡️

Braxton County is buzzing with excitement as the Fall Out Festival rolls into town this weekend, and Sutton Community Development Corporation/OnTrac wants to officially welcome every visitor making the trip to our little corner of Appalachia.

💛A few things we hope you’ll keep in mind while you’re here:

We are fiercely West Virginia proud. Around here, people will gladly tell you the history of a building, point you toward a hidden fishing spot, recommend their favorite homemade pie, or strike up a conversation like you’ve lived here forever. That’s just who we are.

Yes, rural communities have struggles. We know that. We live it every day. But our communities are built on grit, resilience, creativity, and neighbors helping neighbors. We try not to define ourselves by what we lack, but by what we continue building together.

You’ll notice a LOT of small locally owned businesses this weekend. Restaurants, shops, vendors, nonprofits, artists, and community groups are stretching themselves to help make this event special. Some businesses may be running with smaller staffs than they’d like. Wait times may happen. Supplies may run low. Folks may be exhausted by Sunday. Please know these business owners and employees are giving this everything they’ve got. You’ll see people stepping in, helping each other, and making it work the Appalachian way. We ask for patience, kindness, and understanding while everyone does their best to welcome you.

Please love our environment the way we do. 🌲 Our mountains, rivers, trails, lakes, and quiet streets are part of what makes this place special. Enjoy them fully, but help us keep them serene, peaceful, and beautiful. Leave places as you found them. Pick up after yourselves. Respect private property. Respect wildlife. Respect our town.

And while you’re here, remember this: Nonprofits are often the glue holding small rural communities together. The people volunteering, organizing festivals, preserving historic buildings, feeding neighbors, mentoring youth, supporting the arts, and keeping traditions alive are truly the heartbeat of towns like ours. If you get the chance, support those organizations too. A small donation, a purchase, a volunteer conversation, or simply sharing their mission goes a long way.

Need something while you’re here? Ask around. Seriously. We may be small, but chances are somebody in this community knows where to find it, fix it, cook it, build it, or help you with it. 🤝

A few final Appalachian survival tips for the weekend:
• Shop local first. Support local always. • Tip your servers and bartenders well. • Cell service may get spotty in some areas. Consider it immersive gameplay. ☢️ • Slow down and enjoy the scenery. • Talk to people. • Explore beyond the main event spaces. • Be respectful guests in our home. • Have fun, make memories, and maybe leave with a little appreciation for rural West Virginia and the people who call it home.

We’re excited to share Braxton County with all of you.

Now grab your bottlecaps and enjoy the adventure. 🛠️🌄

✨ Sutton Shined Bright Today ✨

There’s something powerful about a community that rolls up its sleeves and gets to work… and today, Sutton showed exactly what that looks like.

From early morning to the final sweep, neighbors, families, and volunteers came together for Make It Shine, transforming our town into an even more welcoming place for everyone who lives here and visits.

🧹 Windows were cleaned
🪣 Sidewalks and streets were swept
🎨 Curbs, benches, doors, and signs got a fresh coat of paint
🌸 Flowers were planted to add new life and color
🌿 The Jeremiah Carpenter Trail and our riverside areas were cleared and refreshed
🗑️ Trash was collected all throughout town

Every single effort, big or small, added up to something truly special.

The Sutton Community Development Corporation/OnTrac and the Town of Sutton are incredibly grateful to each and every person who showed up, pitched in, and took pride in making Sutton shine.

And a huge thank you to Little Caesars for keeping our volunteers fueled with pizza throughout the day 🍕

Today wasn’t just about cleaning… it was about community, pride, and showing what’s possible when we come together.

Sutton doesn’t just shine… it glows because of YOU. ✨
