Since 2012, “So Long…to Leukemia” has brought in more than $40,000 to benefit blood cancer patients, their families and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) of Wisconsin. This annual golf fundraiser helps pay for medical research and patient support, which includes everything from gas money to drive to the hospital for treatments to family bereavement activities. Each year, “So Long…to Leukemia
” buys books for children of patients in the blood cancer unit at Froedtert Hospital, and we adopt young cancer patients at Christmas, fulfilling their wish list beyond what they could possibly imagine. Dave would always tell us, “It’s not good-bye, but so long for now until we meet again.” Determined to make a difference, Dave’s family launched this event in his memory. Each year, the “SLTL” fundraising goal reaches a little bit beyond the previous year’s achievement and with your help, we can keep the momentum going for those who need it most.
