VFW Post 6377 Horne Mudlitz - Sussex, WI

Don’t forget the last Sunday of each month when the Horne-Mudlitz VFW Post #6377 collects items for the Sussex Food Pantry. Last year 1,308 lbs of food were because of you and your generosity. We want to meet and beat that goal this year.

The drive-through drop off runs from 9AM - 1PM. Veterans and volunteers will assist you.

Non-perishable food items, hygiene items, baby food / diapers, and monetary donations are all welcome.

The Post is next to Rumors on Waukesha Avenue (Hwy F).

This Norman Rockwell painting graced the cover of The Saturday Evening Post in November of 1943. It portrays a more somber scene than is usually represented in the Rockwell art we are accustomed to seeing. Titled “Thanksgiving: Girl Praying,” it is also called “Refugee Thanksgiving.” It depicts a young Italian woman wearing a U.S. Army soldier’s jacket, praying over the field rations he’s shared with her. She kneels, surrounded by the devastation of war, only rags on her feet. It was meant as a reminder back in 1943. It is still a reminder today. We have much to be thankful for. If you look closely at her face you will see something else – hope.

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Heroes – Memorial Day Weekend 🇺🇸

• 🌺 The Sussex Auxiliary #6377 Horne-Mudlitz Post Poppy Committee visited SSI School this week!
• 📚 Every 5th grader received:
• A poppy to wear
• The poem In Flanders Fields
• A copy of the U.S. Flag etiquette guide
• 🗨 If your student has questions, please let them know:
👉 The poppy honors those who gave their lives for our freedom.
👉 That’s why we take time this weekend to remember them.

🕛 Special Veterans Program at noon
