Surry’s Hazard Mitigation Plan serves as a means to reduce future losses from natural or man-made hazard events before they occur. By maintaining an updated Plan every five years, the Town is eligible to receive grant funding for a variety of mitigation projects. An update to the plan is currently underway. As part of this effort, the Town is seeking input from residents, business owners, and other stakeholders through a brief Hazard Mitigation Survey. You can take it online at https://forms.office.com/r/iegDjBPCvH or fill out a hard copy at the Town Hall or Library. The survey will be open until August 31st. The Board of Selectmen will discuss this topic as part of their meeting on August 10th at 7:30 pm.

We are super excited to have this highly capable truck on order! This apparatus purchase was made possible through a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) covering the majority of the cost. The remaining will be covered via existing capital reserve funds. Upon delivery we will retire our 1978 Mini-Pumper after nearly 50 years of service to the town. Huge thank you to the committee members, Selectmen, folks at Allegiance Fire & Rescue and Skeeter Emergency Vehicles who helped make this happen.
