PLEASE DO NOT RE-ELECT SCOTT HENDEN
to the North Kitsap School District Board

You have just received your primary ballot. Look inside,
because if you're in the North Kitsap School District, you have
the opportunity to vote against an incumbent with a notorious,
disrespectful, anti-Native track record. Scott Henden has officially
questioned tribal sovereignty (see article in the North Kitsap Herald
in next post) although this article was written in 2012, his attitude
and actions remain unchanged. His interactions with tribal members
shows a lack of understanding of the challenges facing many Native youth.
We need a more inclusive and open minded viewpoint governing our schools.
Please consider voting for one of his two opponents,
Glenn Robbins or Loretta Byrnes. And please pass the word.

North Kitsap School Board member Scott Henden asked about the meaning of tribal sovereignty at the Nov. 8 school board meeting. It’s good to ask questions, to seek to understand, particularly regarding such a complex issue.
