A church can look alive on the outside and still be dead on the inside.
That'll make you think a little!
Sunday, Pastor Frank took us to Revelation 3 and the church at Sardis. They had a good reputation, looked like they had it all together, but Jesus saw something different. And that brings up a pretty good question. Are we really being the church Jesus called us to be?
He shared about a woman who visited a church covered in tattoos. Nobody said anything, but everybody turned and stared.
And his response? "Who do we think we are?"
Ouch! Sometimes we forget the mess God brought us out of.
Church isn't supposed to be a place where everybody looks right, dresses right, and acts as if they've never had a problem. Goodness, if that were the requirement, most of us wouldn't qualify!
It's a place where broken people can find hope, hurting people can find help, and lost people can find Jesus.
But Sunday's message wasn't just about welcoming people. It was about checking our own spiritual heartbeat. Are we praying? Are we growing? Are we loving people? Or are we just going through the motions?
We don't need a church that just looks alive. We need a church that's ALIVE in Jesus!
Take a minute and watch this clip. Pastor Frank tells it like it is, and sometimes that's exactly what we need to hear!
