We have lots of really neat pottery for you, here at Art 145! Today is the 15th annual Prickly Pear Festival, and we went all out! We have Prickly Pear lamps, spoon rests, worry stones, trinket dishes, and more! Swing by and check it out, we’ll be here almost all day!

Tomorrow is the 15th annual Prickly Pear Festival, and we are excited to not only have a ton of new Prickly Pear themed pottery coming in our gallery, but we are hosting a fun collage class as well!

This workshop is designed for artists of all skill levels who are interested in experimenting with mixed media techniques to enhance their artistic expression. Use Leon Syfrit's "Portraits In ICE-olation" as inspiration to create your one of a kind artwork.

My favorite part of the Prickly Pear Festival are the amazing public speakers! They are so incredible and knowledgeable, and so generous for coming out to Superior for our small town’s fantastic event that’s on its 15th year. Maya made these Prickly Pear dishes just for the speakers, as a thank you for supporting the event. Be sure to check out the speakers at the Chamber of Commerce, just next door to us this Saturday during the Prickly Pear festival!

Our neighbors, All Things Desert, are closing their doors after the Prickly Pear Prickly Pear Festival so be sure to shop today and this weekend!

Join the Superior Chamber of Commerce at All Things Desert on August 26th at 11:00 AM for a farewell celebration and the final week shopping event.

It is always bittersweet to see a beloved local business close its doors, but it is incredibly inspiring to watch them follow their passion. Supporting All Things Desert as they pivot toward their cinematic dreams shows the true strength and heart of the Superior business community, showing up is what the Superior community is all about!

These Prickly Pear spoon rests for the Prickly Pear Festival made by Maya Barton took nearly 2 months from start to finish, and now they’re ready for you to take home! They are available in the gallery now, for $35 each. If you want to make sure you get one, send us a DM to schedule an appointment to come in, or catch us with our open sign on!

Ceramics is a very rewarding activity, but it requires lots of patience. These took time to sculpt, then they must dry slowly to avoid breaking, Maya did some underglazing on these, then fired to 1,945°, then glazed with three coats of glaze in two colors, then fired to 2,232°! And she loves every step.

I promise it sounds intimidating, but if you are interested in classes, our instructors are super knowledgeable and will make sure you learn how to make amazing things. Ideas? Send them our way!

In this engaging and creative collage class during the 15th annual Prickly Pear Festival, students will explore the art of collage using a photograph of a Prickly Pear cactus as the foundational image. This workshop is designed for artists of all skill levels who are interested in experimenting with mixed media techniques to enhance their artistic expression. Use Leon Syfrit's "Portraits In ICE-olation" as inspiration to create your one of a kind artwork.

Materials Provided
• Assorted papers (Prickly Pear photos,
• magazines, colored paper, fabric, etc.)
• Adhesives (glue, Mod Podge, tape)
• Scissors, craft knives, and cutting mats

Optional Materials
• Base Prickly Pear image (Have them printed out, or email them to [email protected] for us to print them out on 4x6 photo paper)
• Personal paints, markers, or embellishments for added detail
