Turn clay into a functional work of art! In this 4-week beginner-friendly ceramics class, students will design and create their very own ceramic clock. From shaping and building the clock face to adding personality with texture, patterns, and decorative details, you’ll learn the basics of handbuilding while creating something you can actually use.

Over the course of four 2-hour sessions, students will have time to develop their design, build their clock, add finishing touches, and choose glazes to bring their vision to life. Once fired, your finished piece will be fitted with a clock mechanism and ready to hang!

No previous ceramics experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and get ready to make something timeless. 🕐🏺

Class Length: 4 weeks.

Schedule: One 2-hour class per week. Sign up for each individually, and come to as many as you can!

Skill Level: Beginner-friendly

Materials: Studio glazes, tools, firing, and clock mechanism included. Clay is $2/lb.

Unloading the kiln is always like Christmas, even with a bisque fire. I’ll be unloading the most recent work in a few days, and we’ll be going glaze wild!

Join us for $20 on Saturday to learn to glaze, and sign up ahead of time at art145.com

Ceramics members who do not need guidance do not have to pay, you can just come in as if this is open studio!

You can use underglaze, or glaze; we will be teaching you what you need to know about glazing your pieces. Next glaze fire will happen when the shelf is full!

If you haven't made a piece but want to glaze, we have ready made pieces for sale. They are priced $2/lb. rounded up to the nearest pound.

If you have work that was fired before this load that you haven't yet glazed, be sure to come rescue it or glaze it, as it may have been shifted to the "for sale" shelf to make room for the recent works.
