We stand with our Brothers and Sisters that work for SWLP who are concerned with the real possibility of loosing their job and union protections. The city cannot provide the wages, benefits, and worker protections IBEW Local 31 and SWLP offer. This takeover will also affect the men and women of the building trades who work for contractors that do work for Superior Water, Light & Power.

Because of current state laws, more and more out of the area non union contractors are low balling our local contractors who pay substandard wages and benefits along with bringing in out of town workers stealing from our local workforce! This has implications beyond what people are seeing.

We encourage you to do your own research as there is an abundance of disinformation and misinformation out there.

The Superior Community Coalition Mayor Paine and some members of the Superior City Council are considering borrowing an estimated 290 million dollars to create a government-run utility through a takeover of one or all our local water, gas, or electric services. If you live in Superior please fill this out. The City Council refuses to support legislation that would allow their residents access to federal grants that would be used towards the residents cost of replacing lead water service lines from the curb stop to their house. This is an estimated cost of $10k to the homeowner. The proposed legislation would allow SWL&P to access these grants and would provide up to $5k in savings to the homeowner.

Certain elected officials are using this as a political opportunity to advance their own agenda and to boost their potential re-election campaigns. They are spreading misinformation with no factual basis to their claims. Do your own research and look past the smoke and mirrors. Everyone should have access to these cost and life saving grants and not be pawns in the political arena.
