A Message from our President:

“Thank you to all the exhibitors, sponsors, and volunteers from the 2026 Lone Star Peruvian Horse Club Spring Spectacular. It was a great weekend of fun with our friends watching Peruvian Horses performing at a high level of competition in front of three fantastic judges.
It has been my honor to serve as President of the Lone Star Peruvian Horse Club and to play a small part of the five shows since the club “rebooted”. As I mentioned at our annual dinner, I am resigning as President and Board Member, effective May 1st. It is time to allow others to put their stamp on the shows and the club. Thank you to all the Board members who have served during my tenure: Dianna Whisenant, Terry Ellis, Alberto Lummis, Devon Harrison, Elizabeth Tierney, Tom Rogers, Mike Mewhinney and Jorge Jaramillo.
Abrazos to all!
Donny

🏆JUDGE’S SPOTLIGHT ~ DANELL ADAMS 🏆
Lone Star Heart of Texas Show
🔥 Rapid Fire with Danell 🔥
If you could choose one: After dinner dessert or drink?
“Drink, for sure.”
Favorite show snack?
Organic sausage sticks (Danell, just wait until you experience Taste of Texas! 😄)
Early morning or late-night barn check?
“All damn day!” (with a laugh)

Dannel’s story with the Peruvian Horse began at 14 years old, shaped by strong family influences. Her aunt, Angie Delozier, a respected California breeder who imported the highly regarded stallion Piloto, and her grandfather, Tom Jones, an accomplished horseman, both played a pivotal role in her path.
But still Danell was not given a free ride (pun intended) she had to earn it.
Before she was ever given a saddle, she rode ba****ck. She had to prove to her aunt that she had balance and really was worthy of a saddle!
Not long after she earned her saddle, Danell entered her first show in 2004 aboard Khan Valiente, a seal bay gelding (let’s hear it for the bays! 🙌).
Since becoming a judge in 2015, Danell has served our breed as President of NAPHA. She has continuously brought her experience and enthusiasm to our beloved breed and we’re very happy to have her back in Texas for her second time judging the Lone Star Show.
Thank you, Danell for your help and your commitment to the breed!

🏆Judge Spotlight: Belisario De La Casas D’Onofrio🏆
Judge for the Camino Real Peruvian Horse Club
🔥RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS🔥
Q. Favorite show snack?
A. “As a boy: a Doña Stella's butifarra sandwich and an ice cream
As a man: Doña Stella’s butifarra… with a beer!” 🍺
Q. After-dinner dessert or after-dinner drink?
You could hear the smile through the phone:
A. “After-dinner drink.”
Q. Early morning or late-evening barn check?
A. Early morning.🌞
Belisario entered his first show at 14 years old on a chestnut gelding named BC As de Oros.
“He was always on fire. You had to stay in control of him and not feel scared, he could feel you if you showed fear.”
So it’s no surprise that when asked which horse taught him the most, the answer was immediate:
“BC As de Oros.”
His all-time favorite horse was BC Kaiser, a chestnut stallion he described simply as:
“Puppy-like.”
A Peruvian National Piso Champion, Kaiser was as kind as he was talented.
“He would put his head at your feet to ask for pets.”
It’s that beautiful combination of brilliance and gentle nature that makes the Peruvian Horse so beloved. Horses like Kaiser remind us that the breed’s elegance and presence in the ring are matched by their kindness and willingness with people.
Thank you, Belisario, for returning back to Texas and sharing your passion for the Peruvian Horse. We look forward to seeing you in the ring. 🐴

🔥RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS🔥
“If you could only choose one: Coke Zero or a Montecristo?
Brief pause…
“Coke Zero.” 🥤
Favorite show snack:
Brief pause…
“Coke Zero.” (he’s consistent) 🥤
Early morning or late-night barn checks?
No pause needed…
“Late night!” 🌙

Lone Star Judge Eduardo Risso-Montes, who has been judging since 1986 and entered his first show at just 14 years old.
“I rode JRM Volador in an enfrenadura class in Mamacona.” 🐴
When asked about his all-time favorite horse, Eduardo didn’t hesitate:
“My father’s horse, JRM Premier. He had the perfect combination of smoothness, gait, arrogance, and a wonderful disposition.”
But the horse that taught him the most was one of his own, ERM Espontáneo.
“He never gave up. He had tremendous presence, great elegance, and complete manners.”
That kind of tenacity is something we all admire in the Peruvian Horse!
Thank you, Eduardo, for coming back to Texas!
We look forward to seeing you again… and we’ll have your Coke Zero waiting
(and maybe a Montecristo). 😉
