Need help with your energy bill? The Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP) may provide assistance to eligible, low-income Broward County households with at least one resident age 60 or older facing a home-energy emergency.

If you’ve received a past due, final or disconnection notice and think you may qualify, support is available. Through the ADRC Helpline, our team can help determine eligibility, connect you with resources and schedule an appointment to assist with the application process.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our World Elder Abuse Awareness Day presentation at Champions Hall Community Center in North Lauderdale.

Thank you to the Department of Children and Families and Coast to Coast Legal Aid for providing valuable information and resources to help residents recognize, prevent, and take action against elder abuse, fraud, scams, neglect, and exploitation. Attendees learned important strategies to protect themselves and their loved ones.

On June 11, the Area Agency on Aging of Broward County conducted an Elder Abuse Awareness and Prevention training for social service coordinators from Catholic Health Services. This highly interactive two-hour professional training focused on recognizing the different types of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation; identifying warning signs and red flags; and understanding reporting responsibilities.
