A Public Service Announcement Regarding a Petition Circulated to Remove Newly Appointed School Board Trustee Chris Bobertz

James Lowder, along with others from Ryan Jergensen and Linda Hurley's small but vocal team of supporters, circulated a petition that was filed with the Alameda County Office of Education on September 6th to challenge the appointment of Chris Bobertz as a Trustee of the Sunol Glen Unified School District Board. Should the petition be deemed sufficient and certified by ACOE, Trustee Bobertz will be immediately removed from his seat and yet another special election will need to be held at a cost of at least $15,000 - $17,000 to the school district.

We have received reports from multiple Sunolians who signed the petition that the nature of the petition was misrepresented to them when their signature was collected and that if they had known it was intended to remove a good Trustee like Chris from the school board they never would have signed it.

Have you cast your ballot yet?
One of many reasons to VOTE YES to RECALL Jergensen & Hurley:

No integrity. Trustee Ryan Jergensen tried to inappropriately utilize the Sunol Glen School District attorney for his personal use in an attempt to secretly find out who signed petitions for his recall and then he tried to hide it from the community by asking the lawyer not to share his request with anyone, including his fellow Trustees. She refused to carry out his request and then resigned.

Trustee Linda Hurley supported Jergensen's reprehensible conduct.

5-30-24 Sunol Glen USD Special Board Meeting recording is shared below

Note: There was no district provided live stream due to the fact that all members of the district IT staff who have previously managed meeting broadcast support have now resigned as a result of harassment from Trustees Jergensen & Hurley and their supporters. Trustee Jergensen indicated during the meeting that this last-minute special session was called too quickly for a contractor to be brought in to fill the staffing gap.

This recording of the open session of the meeting begins following the pledge and continues through the end of open session. There is a small interruption in the video as agenda item 3a begins; part of Trustee Jergensen reading the published text of the agenda item is cut off. Full agenda text is pasted in the video description for reference and can also be viewed at https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/SB_Meetings/ViewMeeting.aspx?S=36030465&MID=30728.

Apologies for the rough cut; the meeting started abruptly after the room was opened late due to the fact that no district staff was present to facilitate the meeting or document the meeting minutes as is usually standard procedure (there was nothing normal about this meeting). As a result there wasn't time to settle in and set-up recording equipment properly. The connectivity was poor so the attempted live stream failed; this is an upload of a back-up device recording offline.

Good evening, there were connectivity issues streaming the SGUSD special school board meeting this evening. A recording was made and is in the process of uploading now. It will be shared here as soon as it is ready.

TOMORROW, Tuesday March 12th the Sunol Glen School board is expected to order a recall special election as directed by the Registrar of Voters. Many in the community have called on the Trustees to execute the election as soon as possible, which according to election law would be TUESDAY, JUNE 11th.

Please raise your voice with us at the meeting and via email to ask the board majority under recall to schedule a June 11th election and to refrain from stalling the process. Executing the election ASAP is in the best interest of all involved, but especially the teachers, staff and families who are making enrollment and employment decisions based on the outcome of the recall special election.

We have an election!

On February 28th, petitions to Recall Trustees Jergensen & Hurley were certified sufficient by the Alameda County Registrar of Voters, paving the way for a special election. The ball is now in the the school board's court to order the special election—they have until March 13th.

Fun fact: More Sunol voters signed to put a recall of Trustees Jergensen & Hurley on the ballot than voted either of them into office.

See the link in the comments for more info.
