The meeting on Friday was busy and eventful. First of all, Kristin gave her 10th and final project, titled “Moving Forward”. Her skills have improved so much and we were all inspired afterwards. Now she’s completed the Competent Communication manual. Hooray, Kristin!

Our new members received a warm welcome next. Cheryl, Karen, and Vidya each received a welcome card and a Toastmasters notebook in which they would jot down speech ideas. After our new Hospitality Chair, Barbara, officially welcomed them to our growing club, they read a Toastmaster’s promise. The promise is a pledge of personal growth and commitment to the club.

We appreciated mentors and gave them pins so that members can identify them and seek advice. Kristin also received a special appreciation award for all her hard work as the VP Education. Our club would not be the same without her dedication and leadership.

Our Area Director, Daniël, installed new club officers. Thank you, Kristin, Katherine, Karen, Simon, Lianhai, Cheryl, and Gus, for stepping up to lead and serve our club in the upcoming term! Looking forward to the next meeting in July.

In honor of Barbara's and Ray's longtime service to our club, we also conferred these titles upon them:

Barbara Busch: Hospitality Chair. Barbara has always been so welcoming to our guests and made sure they have all the information about Toastmasters and our club. "Friendly" is a popular comment we receive.

Ray Downen: Mentoring Supervisor. Ray is an experienced speaker. He has so many good points every time he is an evaluator or a general evaluator. His mentoring style is also insightful and effective. He will be a good resource for mentors.

The Toastmasters year is July 1st to June 30th. The new officers will be installed at the next meeting.

Wednesday was the Division G contest, and every speaker was an Area contest winner. Charles and Kristin represented Area G3. Even though they did not place, they gave excellent speeches that inspired and educated the audience. It was a stiff competition. All the speakers were incredible!

Our President Katherine Garner gave a speech on Distinguished Club Program at the last meeting on April 1. We also had 3 guests visiting that day. So we're on our way to achieve that!

The 2016 Area G3 International Speech and Table Topics Contest was held on March 30th, and our VP Education Kristin Nayak came in third place in the speech contest and first place in the Table Topics contest. She will be representing Area G3 at the Division G contest on April 27th from 6:00-9:00pm at Samsung Research America Auditorium, 665 Clyde Ave, Mountain View, CA 94043.
