Shooting Arrest / Assault

On 6/5/26 at approx. 7:30pm at Sunnyside High School graduation, Sunnyside Police received reports of a suspicious person. Officers located the male and recognized him as Ojore Ayala-Garcia an 18 year old Sunnyside resident. Ayala-Garcia was wanted related to a recent shooting in Sunnyside that occurred on 5/29/26.

Sunnyside Officers utilized all available resources and deployed a drone as officers moved in to arrest Ayala-Garcia. Ayala-Garcia spotted the officers and ran through the crowd on foot knocking several graduation attendees down causing minor injuries. Ayala-Garcia was arrested for his connection to the shooting on 5/29/26 and several new assault charges for the attendees he injured while fleeing Sunnyside Police Officers.

Ayala-Garcia was booked into the Yakima County Jail.
