A story of tragedy and new life that will touch your soul with comfort and hope!

Last week, Raizel Blesofsky of Brooklyn, a pregnant first-time mom, tragically passed away at the age of 23. Her baby was left struggling for his life.

Across the world, in Cape Town, South Africa, Ariella and Nissen Goldman were expecting a child. They did not know Raizel personally. But throughout Ariella’s birth, they both kept thinking of her. They were especially touched by how Raizel would welcome and prepare food for guests and campers, caring for the needs of every individual with warmth, love, and kindness.

The Goldmans reached out to Raizel’s parents, Rabbi Avraham and Nechama Laber, of East Greenbush, New York, with a most meaningful gift.

On Shabbat morning, just after shivah ended, Rabbi Laber was honored with officially naming the Goldmans’ daughter, Chaya Raizel, after his own daughter.

The Jewish nation truly is one big family!

May Raizel’s legacy of kindness would live on through baby Chaya Raizel.

In the Temple in Jerusalem was a seven-branched menorah.

That is us, the Jewish people.

Each of us is a flame. One flame burns softly. Another burns with a roar. Until seven branches are filled with millions of distinct, unique flames.

All are drawn upwards, all yearning to reunite with their Beloved above.

And that is the work of Aaron the Kohen, the priest of kindness and love:

That every soul should burn its own flame, and not a single one should remain dark or dim.

El Al Flight Diverts to Rome for Birth of a Baby Girl

A Jewish couple flying from Israel to New Jersey had their flight diverted to Rome when the mother went into premature labor five weeks early.

They were rushed to the nearest hospital without even their luggage.

Until someone on the plane connected them to Rabbi Shalom and Chani Hazan co-directors of Chabad di Monteverde.

Within hours, Rome's Jewish community showed up offering food, baby clothes, and places to stay.

Thank G‑d, mother and baby girl are both doing well. Family members are flying over to help, and the community in Rome continues to surround them with support.

“We know that the Jewish people are one big family, and we’re all responsible for one another,” Hazan says. “It was incredible to see that in action, and it’s special to have played a small part in this very unique story.”
