❤️🐾 LEWEY’S HAPPY ENDING: FROM BOY ON THE RUN TO BOY WHO’S HOME! 🐾❤️
Some stories remind us why we do what we do. And Lewey’s story? Well, you might want to grab a tissue for this one. 🥹❤️
For months, Lewey was a boy on the run. Scared, frightened, and always in flight mode, he managed to evade the people trying so hard to help him. Among those determined to save him were Samantha and her family, along with other kindhearted Good Samaritans who refused to give up.
And then, finally… Samantha got him! ❤️🐶
Samantha reached out to HSCC and asked if we would take Lewey into our care, with her and her family offering to foster him. Of course, we said yes! And that decision changed Lewey’s life forever.
When Lewey was finally safe, the extent of what he had endured became clear. He was underweight and had more than 400 ticks that needed to be removed. His family got him to the veterinarian, where he received his vaccines and the care he desperately needed. Slowly, his recovery began.
But the most beautiful part of Lewey’s healing wasn't just physical. It was watching a frightened boy begin to trust, relax, and discover what it meant to be loved. ❤️
And then there was Otis, the resident dog who quickly became Lewey’s best friend! 🐕🐕 The two bonded, and before long, they were more than just housemates. They were buddies.
Samantha and her husband initially thought they weren't ready to have two dogs permanently, so Lewey was made available for adoption. But something wonderful happened during those months together.
Lewey stopped being just the dog they were fostering. He became their dog. He became part of their family. And little by little, this boy who had spent so long running from everything began to understand that he was finally home. 🥹🏡
So today, we are beyond thrilled to announce that LEWEY HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY ADOPTED BY SAMANTHA AND HER FAMILY! 🎉❤️
That's right! This boy didn't just find a forever home. He found the very home where his journey to safety began, with the people who refused to give up on him and the canine best friend who helped him find his place.
From now on, Lewey will never have to wonder where his next meal will come from, where he'll sleep at night, or whether someone will care for him. He has his people, his best buddy Otis, and a family who loves him just as he is.
And to Samantha and her family, THANK YOU. Thank you for spending months trying to catch Lewey. Thank you for opening your home and your hearts to a frightened stray. Thank you for getting him the medical care he needed, giving him time to heal, and allowing him to learn that the world can be a safe and loving place. Most of all, thank you for never giving up on him. ❤️
