womanwhohunts getting familiar with her 25 Creedmoor. R***e is a Tikka T3X with a 12.5" Helix 6 Precision (Sobchak Security LLC edition) carbon wrapped barrel. 134gr factory Hornady was running around 2425fps. Should be able to get 110gr much faster.

Results will follow. Then lots of hogs.

It appears Sobchak Security LLC has cracked the code on supersonic hunting SBRs with his Helix 6 Precision barrel collaboration

Our supersonic division Hotline Mu*****ns is cooking up something for this barrel in the 2800fps and 115gr range.

Discreet Ballistics has been working on projectile design for nearly a decade. In that time we've had ample opportunity to determine what does and doesn't work in the field.

We specialize in solid copper projectiles which are about 25% longer than traditional lead core pills of the same weight. Not only do longer projectiles typically require faster twist rates to properly stabilize, they also require more time to produce with precision.

Presently, all of our solid copper subsonic expanders are made one by one on CNC lathes. We try to strike a good balance between keeping the projectiles within tight tolerances (conformation to the print) and cycle time (how quickly they can be made within the tolerance). A longer and heavier bullet will necessarily require more cycle time to maintain sufficient levels of precision. The precision we maintain is part of what makes our projectiles among the most accurate subsonics available.

Experimenting with longer and heavier projectiles in the past has led us to the conclusion that the juice is not worth the squeeze. Sure, there may be instances where the added pe*******on of a heavier projectile is beneficial, but for nearly all big game in this western hemisphere, we've found it to be unnecessary. Our 280gr 8.6BLK has taken the largest of them including: moose, elk, eland, you name it. Of the hundreds of post mortems observed, pe*******on with our 280gr expander has never shown to be an issue.

Some guys will always prefer the Hellcat. But our 280gr Selous customers choose the Z06. It beats the Hellcat around a track all day, every day - with precision.

Some notes on the terminal ballistics of this example:

- A mature female impala weighs between 88-117lbs according to the internet.

- The animal was shot at a distance of approximately 50yds from a slightly elevated position.

- The animal began to quarter away as the shot broke resulting in a relatively high and further back entrance

- The animal ran less than 25yds and died within 1-2 minutes. Death was confirmed by testing the corneal reflex (eye poke)

- The projectile impacted squarely on a rib before entering the thoracic cavity and trajecting through vital tissue.

- The projectile came to a rest inside the posterior shoulder. The projectile was able to be physically felt through the outside of the hide.

- The projectile was extracted showing partial expansion mostly likely due to the hard tissue impact. Full expansion is more likely when the projectiles avoid hard tissue impacts.

The Roach SBR is built on a Dark Mountain Arms Stowaway. Instead of the standard 1:10 twist 5.5" barrel, the roach uses a 1.78" 1:7 twist barrel. Tests that compare the terminal ballistics of standard and "enhanced" twist rates are already underway.

Struthio camelus put down with supersonic Barnes 120gr 300BLK via the Q Minifix at 243yds and a follow up at around 50yds. They're crazy animals to see in the wild and they supposedly kill a handful of people each year. Tastes like lean beef.

The time we spent with our friends Elite Hunting Outfitters SOUTH AFRICA was marvelous. Cannot say enough good things about their family run operation.

The Q Minifix loaded with Sobchak Security LLC 120gr hotloads makes for a very nice brush gun.
