The Forest Service is asking for public comments, concerns, and future issues not addressed by the RER scoping documents. One issue present, and please bring this to their attention:

They want to use the Warren Peak rd a -county road and paved, to traverse the Mine site to get to Upton including winter. If you know anything getting thru the Bearlodge on warren peak hwy, can be impossible except by snowmobile. ( note thier maybe no snowmobile trails) The winds drifts that road so well, that only way across is by the snowmobile groomer.. There is no way they can even plow that for semis.. safely for plows, drivers and the folks at the bottom of the Lodge.. there are so many issues they allege to address. People whom live here can tell you this mine is going to destroy the lodge..

The pit after it closed will be filled with water and 160+ acres will be fenced forever, no water recreation, no fishing, and then add possibility of thorium (radioactive) tainted water is very real.. We wrote our comments but just thinking of these.. someone needs to address it. please feel free to write your comments. You email us we will send you a pdf of our comments. SPEAK UP..

The U.S. Forest Service is accepting comments via three methods to help shape the scope of the upcoming Environmental Impact Statement (EIS):

Online (Preferred): Submit electronically via the Forest Service NEPA project portal at https://cara.fs2c.usda.gov/Public/CommentInput?Project=291093.
By Mail: Send written comments to Shawn Cochran, Forest Supervisor, c/o Wendy Schuyler, Project Manager, Black Hills National Forest, 1019 N. 5th Street, Custer, SD 57730.
In Person: Deliver comments Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Mountain Time), to the Black Hills National Forest office in Custer. Local drop-off is also available at the County Clerk’s Office in Sundance, Wyoming.

We are fortunate that we we were asked to help layout a re- route for the Carson Cut Across (D) by the Bearlodge Ranger District- Forest Service. Signed and delivered ..Thanks to the New DR in NH.

The initial trail is laid out, and it will address the need to close the 17% pitch old trail, and rehab it.

The SCGMBA is reaching out for trail volunteers- the reroute is .85 miles and has approx 6.5 % grade.

The hours are depending when people can show, it seems likely the weekends are/will work for others, but the FS crew will be on it over the next couple months., Adrian is volunteering his time to assist in the new trail build and teaching as they go. He is not availbe on weekends due to other paying commitments. There is roughly 250 feet so far. This is being done by hand tools.

A Grillo may come in and maybe Mini ex, but the there is Bat issue that only allows mechanized work after a certain date. There is 3 turns and help will definitely be need to lay these out in the best way possible- climbing turns.

Please contact us via messenger if you have days that will work.. lets not let this opportunity to add a better climb or descent trail on the Bearlodge. Thank you and God Bless. You will need to fill out paperwork for volunteer agreement - just inc case of injuries.. Normal FS paperwork.

Adrian will reach out for lunch and beverages once we know who can commit.

If you all haven't noticed we are transitioning to the Trailforks app. We utlized MTB Project years ago its still usable.

But due to limited route entries-we are shying away.

We do our best to bring you the best. Trailforks, will let us know how many use the trails, and those "System Metrics" will help us build more trails or fix issues that become present /needs.

So do us a solid bear poo and use trailforks app as your tracker, you can upload the data to Strava -- it does work. But you cannot Strava and then upload to Trailsfork..

Why-Strava is thier typical mine mine mine...The Bearlodge Mtn Classic has the maps and info in Trailforks.

⭐️ to the BLRD Fire and Rec for chewing up trees that blew down this last December.. alot of work.

Wyoming has winds and this week is no different. Adrian cut out two downed, on Bitch pitch and Edge. There are some other trees that blew down near the trail and one that took Edge trail out. Those two will be handled by FS.

The 2flat had several blow downs handled by FS and one rootball that is going to be hand sawned up in the next couple weeks.. the sand would eat a chainsaw..

sundance trail, 2 flat, Edge, Bitch pitch, luge, coyote ridge .. clear as far we can tell east fork quarry climb is unknown.

The soil was perfect today. horse on trails, the trail runners on trail.. a busy day for Bearlodge standards.

Please report any downed trees on trails with a pic and GPS location to assist the FS or the club in locating. Please be careful and we will be updating trail conditions on the Trailforks app .

With the days ahead.. and days and years behind.. We take the Fish Canyon and Bearlodge Fat Bike Trails FB page down. A many a memory, cold days, fun days, and an awesome expierence we brought to the Hills, to push forward the Fatbike cycling. With last couple years of no snow, and the crusting of old groomers on sleds- we shut down our ability to groom as we had.

We highly support that folks, support the Grooming Alliance of Spearfish, and Black Mountain Nordic of Sheridan Wy.. as they go forward with providing winter actvities.

To: John Allen Mackey, Michael Trainor, Kenny Denzin, Steven Wilson, Mike Adams, and FS Folks --John Kelley, Roger Showman, and Former District Ranger Steve Kozel- and Mike G..
You were all very keen on being advocates for our wants -- and To the FS the permit of acreage and mindset to pull it off in two locations under Permit.

Thank you for letting us use the Sleds, to make it happen..

Great working relationship with these folks.

U.S. Department of Agriculture BLRD -Bearlodge Ranger District -NHRD the Northern Hills Ranger District. Thank You So Much!
