Dr. King spoke of building a Beloved Community—one rooted in understanding, respect, and action. Rotary puts that vision into practice every day through service projects, youth leadership, humanitarian work, and efforts to promote peace locally and globally.
Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by reflecting on values that continue to guide both his work and ours.
Dr. King believed that real change comes through service, compassion, and a commitment to the dignity of every human being. Rotary shares that same belief through our guiding principle of Service Above Self. Both remind us that leadership is not about position or recognition—it is about lifting others, strengthening communities, and working peacefully toward a more just world.

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we recommit ourselves to service, empathy, and action. Not just in words, but in what we do for others—because service is how we turn shared values into lasting impact.
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
