SNACK Ohio

SNACK Ohio Reducing the unwanted cat population of north central Ohio through low-cost spay/neuter and trap-neu We conduct trap/neuter/return programs on a project basis.

We are not a cat removal service, an animal shelter, or an adoption agency. Our trained volunteers trap the cats in specially designed traps and transport them to a licensed veterinarian for spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, ear-tipping, and medical treatment, if needed. After a brief recovery period (about 24-48 hours), the cats are returned to their home. A colony caregiver is expected to provi

de simple, long-term care including food, water, and shelter. We work in the north central Ohio area, primarily in Delaware, Morrow, Knox, and Richland Counties.

We have dissolved our organization effective December 31, 2022 and have closed our operations. Thank you for your support!

Shout out and THANK YOU to SNACK Ohio, a non-profit TNR (trap neuter release) organization that trapped and fixed over 5,000 cats (covering Knox, Richland, and Morrow counties) before closing up shop at the end of 2022 after 11 years.

I personally had the good fortune of meeting Rita and Greg, the founders of SNACK, 10 years ago when they helped me trap my cat P**f (in photo below), a beautiful but feral cat that was living in the side of an abandoned building.

The work that SNACK has done has been tireless, thankless, and seemingly endless - but it is nothing short of astounding to think of how many cats they helped, and how many unwanted litters they've prevented.

Thank you! ❤️

SNACK held its very last Fix-It Day clinic before we close our operations at the end of the year. These cool cats will live longer, healthier lives as a result of their guardians bringing them in for a snip and won’t contribute to the pet overpopulation problem!

One gracious supporter even brought our volunteers some cookies for one last taste of sweet success!

Since our 2011 inception, we spayed and neutered 5,193 cats! None of this would have been possible without the enthusiasm and energy of our volunteers, our partnerships with Fredericktown Veterinary Clinic, Rascal Unit, The Animal Health Organization, and several county humane societies, and our generous donors and supporters. Because of each and every one of you, we operated for 11 glorious years and made a difference in the lives of thousands of cats. Thank you just isn’t enough to tell you how grateful we are.

UPDATE: this clinic is now FULL! Thank you to everyone who registered!

SNACK, Inc. is pleased to partner this year with the mobile, Dublin-based Rascal Unit and the Humane Society of Richland County for Rascal Day for Cats, on Tuesday, September 27, at the Humane Society of Richland County office, 3025 Park Ave W, Ontario, OH 44906.

Registration for this event is online only at https://snackohio.org/rascal. This offer is for individuals only and not valid to other animal rescue organizations. There is no residency requirement.

During our Rascal day, there is no limit on the number of cats you may bring to the event. However, for your cat's safety and security, each cat must have his/her own clean, secure carrier or humane trap.

Our organization subsidizes the cost of the surgery to make it affordable to the community. Your cost to spay/neuter your cat is $35/cat. The fee includes surgery and a one-year rabies vaccination.

COURTESY POST: Two lovely kitties are looking for a new home! Their owner sadly fell ill and can no longer care for them 😢

The cats are named after the railroad lines Chesapeake and Pennsylvania, thus Chessie and Pensy for short!

Pensy is the tiger, shy at first, but a true lap cat and snuggle bug.

Chessie is more adventurous, but very friendly. Not as likely to sit in laps for hours as Pensy will. Chessie and Pensy have lived with large dogs and are tested, spayed/neutered, and saw the veterinarian yesterday with vaccine updates.

They are not a bonded pair and do not need to be adopted together, but Chessie and Pensy are social with each other. They are about 5 1/2 years old with a lot of life and love to give. Neither Chessie nor Pensy is declawed (nor should they be) but they use scratching posts well and faithfully.

If you are interested in giving one or both cats a home, please send us a message and we will put you in contact with their caretaker. If you can’t adopt, please share this post to help us find their new home!
