Time is running out to register for Wildlife and Forestry Field Day! 🌲🔆🌳🔆🍀

This event is open to all 4-H'ers ages 8-18. No advance preparation is necessary. It will be held on May 9 at the Ag Progress Days Site in Rock Springs, PA.

4-H'ers are also invited to bring friends who aren't in 4-H! Registration is also open to kids who aren't 4-H members this year. This is a great way to introduce friends and family members to 4-H and share the fun.

There will be two event tracks.

🌲The first option is the "Exploratory Track," designed for youth 4-H ages 8-11. It will include hands-on wildlife and forestry activities, guest speakers, and interactive learning experiences.

🌳The second option is the "Science Track," designed for youth ages 12-18. This track offers more in-depth educational sessions. It will build knowledge and skills in wildlife and forest sciences, connect content from 4-H Wildlife and Forestry project books to real-life applications, and introduce youth to natural resource careers. An OPTIONAL interactive quiz will be offered at the end of the day to help identify youth who may be interested in or prepared for national-level 4-H opportunities.

Sessions are different each year, and no prior experience or project work is required.

Parents are welcome to stay for the day, but must pre-register. Registration is required by April 27.

Registration is now open for State Shooting Sports Contests!

These Competitions provide 4-H members with the opportunity to compete at the state level in seven disciplines: Air Pistol, Air Rifle, Archery, Muzzleloader, Riflery, Shotgun, and Hunting Skills. Please note that Hunting Skills is a new discipline this year!

Participants must be at least 10 years old (4-H age) for Air Pistol, Air Rifle, Archery, and Hunting Skills contests. For Smallbore Rifle, Shotgun, and Muzzleloader, participants must be at least 12 years old (4-H age). They must have previously completed the project of which they are competing.

New this year: There are now two divisions, competitive and recreational. Competitive members are 4-H age 13 – 18 and are interested in qualifying for the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships. Recreational members are 4-H age 12 – 18 and are not interested in qualifying for the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships. Clubs may send multiple teams and individuals for both divisions.

Also, the following rule, “Anyone who has participated in the 4-H Shooting Sports National Championship is NOT allowed to participate in this state contest in the same discipline again,” has been removed. Moving forward, members who participated in the National contest, may participate in the state contest in the same discipline. However, they CANNOT qualify and attend Nationals in the same discipline again.

Do you enjoy making music?

Join the PA 4-H STEM State Project Ambassadors for an exciting, hands‑on, virtual workshop. Youth who are 4-H ages 13-18 will dive into the worlds of coding, artificial intelligence, and music creation!

Using Google Gemini and EarSketch, 4-H'ers will learn how build their own music tracks, and explore the creative side of AI technology. No prior experience is needed!

This interactive experience introduces 4-H'ers to Python programming, prompt engineering, music fundamentals, and core AI concepts—all in a fun way.

Mark your calendar for PA 4-H Animal Bowl and Skillathon Contests!

The contests will be held on May 30 at the Penn State University Park campus. The event will include avian bowl, dairy bowl, canine bowl, hippology, horse bowl, livestock skillathon, and rabbit and cavy bowl and skillathon. Contests are open to 4-H'ers ages 10 and up, with national competition opportunities in many contests for those ages 14 and up.

Registration will be in ZSuite; there will be no pre-registration by a 4-H educator process this year. All participating coaches and youth must register. Reach out to Kirsten Dubbs ([email protected]) with questions.

Calling all volunteers! Join us for the April 2026 update on the state clothing and textiles program.

This session will focus on fiber arts and will explore the 4‑H weaving and spinning projects, including the types of items youth can create and how to introduce these projects within your 4‑H club.

This virtual meeting will provide leader education, networking, and information-sharing opportunities.

We’ll share practical tips on getting started, locating equipment, and how to organize and share materials among club members. You’ll also learn about the Fleece to Shawl Contests held at fairs, community events, and the Pennsylvania Farm Show—an exciting opportunity for 4‑H members to build teamwork, practice fiber arts skills, and promote both the craft and the value of wool.

Registration is now open for State Leadership Conference! This event is filling up quickly, so be sure to reserve your spot today.

This event is for 4-H teens (13-18 4-H age) who want to reach their top leadership potential. This annual conference is a favorite of many Pennsylvania 4-H members. Attending workshops, networking with other 4-H youth, and being inspired by keynote speakers encourages our 4-H teens to step into larger leadership roles in their clubs, community, and state!
