Well, the horse post sure caught y'alls attention! Why don't we keep with the horse theme and talk about how to interact with horses on the trail. 🐎✨ We met up with the Sawtooth Backcountry Horsemen to put together some vids.

In this video, the horse is a little anxious, and the hiker doesn't really know what to do, but with calm communication between the rider and the hiker, they have a nice encounter!

The rider communicated his horse's needs, and the hiker moved out of their way, took off her sunglasses, and kept communicating as they moved past.

Remember, we're all part of the same trail community out there! Have a great weekend!

¡Vaya, la publicación sobre el caballo sin duda os ha llamado la atención! ¿Por qué no seguimos con el tema de los caballos y hablamos de cómo interactuar con ellos en la ruta?🐎✨

En este vídeo, el caballo está un poco nervioso y el excursionista no sabe muy bien qué hacer, pero gracias a una comunicación tranquila entre el jinete y el excursionista, ¡tienen un encuentro muy agradable!

El jinete comunicó las necesidades de su caballo, y la excursionista se apartó de su camino, se quitó las gafas de sol y siguió comunicándose mientras pasaban.

¡Recordad que todos formamos parte de la misma comunidad de senderistas! ¡Que paséis un buen fin de semana!

Augie is no longer missing in the Croy Creek area after his rider was injured in a fall on June 8.

After two nights out there, he's been found, thank you to everyone who shared, reposted, and helped look for him!

Greenhorn is settling in beautifully—but we're not done caring for it yet!

This weekend, volunteers, Forest Service staff and families, our Hybrid Trail Crew, and the Backcountry Horsemen came together to give this newer section of trail some much-needed touch-up work. As one of the busiest stretches of trail around, a little annual maintenance helps keep it wide, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

The coolest part? Trail work is about so much more than the tread beneath our feet. Two years after relocating this trail out of a wetland, we're watching birds, beavers, wildflowers, and native plants reclaim the landscape. The trail is blending back into its surroundings just as planned.

When trail work is done right, it eventually becomes hard to see all the work that went into it.

Thanks to everyone who came out and got their hands dirty with us on National Trails Day!

Greenhorn se está adaptando a la perfección, ¡pero aún no hemos terminado de cuidarlo!

Este fin de semana, voluntarios, personal del Servicio Forestal y sus familias, nuestro equipo «Hybrid Trail Crew» y los «Backcountry Horsemen» se reunieron para realizar unos retoques muy necesarios en este nuevo tramo del sendero. Al ser uno de los tramos más transitados de la zona, un poco de mantenimiento anual ayuda a mantenerlo ancho, seguro y acogedor para todos.

¿Lo mejor de todo? El trabajo en los senderos es mucho más que la superficie que pisamos. Dos años después de reubicar este sendero fuera de un humedal, estamos viendo cómo las aves, los castores, las flores silvestres y las plantas autóctonas recuperan el paisaje. El sendero se está integrando de nuevo en su entorno tal y como estaba previsto.

Cuando el trabajo en los senderos se hace bien, al final resulta difícil apreciar todo el esfuerzo que se ha invertido en él.

¡Gracias a todos los que vinisteis y os ensuciasteis las manos con nosotros en el Día Nacional de los Senderos!

While trails might be drying faster than usual, and folks are out clearing the far reaches, we still can't be everywhere at once!

When you get home from your trail adventure, submit a trail report to let everyone know what you saw! Use the TrailForks app directly (shout out to TF user tripledivide, whoever you are - you are crushing the reports!!), or submit a report on our website!

THERE IS NOW A SHEEP LOCATION REPORT!!! If you haven't looked at the trail reports for a while, go familiarize yourself with the sheep report form! The sheep are in the field, and it is SO helpful to use the power of the collective to keep an eye on their location. 🐑🐑

The Warm Springs drainage isn't exactly known for being tame.

Remote trails, rugged terrain, and trees falling down all through the burn make it a place where the moto community thrives.

This spring, moto crews have cleared more than 250 trees from Placer, Rooks, Barr, parts of Osberg, Dollarhide Summit, and South Fork/Middle Fork trails. 🪚🤯

It's hard work in some of the wildest corners of our trail system, and we're incredibly grateful for the crew that gets it done!

Missed our Trail Season Kickoff Party? No worries—there are plenty of ways to get involved this June!

✨This Thursday: Join us at the Limelight for Teton Gravity Research's The Magic Hour. Come celebrate mountain bike culture, connect with fellow trail lovers, and get inspired for the season ahead.

✨This Saturday: Roll up your sleeves for National Trails Day! There's no better way to give back to the trails than spending a few hours helping maintain the places we all love to ride, run, and hike.

✨Later this month: We're teaming up with Gather Yoga Studio for a special Summer Solstice Yoga Class benefiting the WRTC. Start your summer with movement, community, and support for local trails.

Whether you're into movies, trail work, yoga, or all three, these events are great opportunities to connect with the trail community and support the trails that make this valley so special.

Huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our Trail Season Kickoff Party last night! ✨💥

We wrapped up our Mega May Match in a BIG way — with new members, returning members, and longtime supporters stepping up to increase their memberships.

This month, we raised $12,045 for local trails through your memberships! We met our $10,000 from the Garber Family Foundation, and are just so grateful!

If your trail buddies haven’t joined the Wood River Trails Coalition yet, send them our way and help grow the movement. The trails we love happen because of this community.

Volunteer with us at Greenhorn for National Trails Day!

✨Difficulty: Moderate

We’ll have a mix of trail work activities—something for everyone! Expect brushing, rehab work, maybe even some rock work, with more details to come.

Please wear closed-toe shoes with ankle support and long pants. We also recommend bringing gloves, sunglasses/eye protection, sunscreen, water, and a small pack for layers and snacks.

We’ll provide tools and all required PPE (hard hats, eye protection, gloves, etc.). Please note: bike helmets are not a substitute for hard hats, and no dogs please.

Our volunteer program has hit the ground running this spring - we've worked on Harpers, Hang Tight/Hang Loose, and are headed out to Adam's Gulch this Friday, WHEW. Jump in and lend a hand next Saturday for National Trails Day!

Realizaremos diversas actividades de mantenimiento de senderos: ¡hay algo para todos! Habrá que desbrozar, realizar trabajos de rehabilitación y quizá incluso trabajar con rocas; más adelante daremos más detalles.

Por favor, lleva calzado cerrado con sujeción en el tobillo y pantalones largos. También recomendamos traer guantes, gafas de sol o protección ocular, protector solar, agua y una mochila pequeña para ropa de abrigo y tentempiés.

Proporcionaremos las herramientas y todo el EPI necesario (cascos, protección ocular, guantes, etc.). Ten en cuenta que los cascos de bicicleta no sustituyen a los cascos de seguridad, y no se admiten perros.

Nuestro programa de voluntariado ha arrancado con fuerza esta primavera: hemos trabajado en Harpers, Hang Tight/Hang Loose, y este viernes nos dirigimos a Adam's Gulch, ¡uf! ¡Únete y echa una mano el próximo sábado para el Día Nacional de los Senderos!
