🎓 Congratulations to Nicholas Alexiou, Luis Fuentes, Nayeli Barragan, and Jasmin Guerrero-Padilla, Project SEARCH Interns, who successfully completed their internships with Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Panorama City!!! 🎉👏🎉

The evening ceremony, which took place on Monday, June 1st, featured inspiring speeches by Marcos Alba, Project SEARCH Instructor, Councilmember Imelda Padillia, Anoush Boyajian, Principal of Lowman Special Ed & Early Transition Center, Sophia Bernal, Tierra Program Director, and a number of additional speakers from LAUSD, North Los Angeles Regional Center, and Kaiser Permanente’s Leadership and Administrative Team.

Anoush Boyajian shared, “each of you has traveled a path that has not been easy. Along the way you have faced barriers and you have shown us that resilience truly means you have learned not only academic and vocational skills, but something far greater. You have learned how to self advocate for yourself. How to persever when the path is unclear and how to believe in your own voice, even when the world is slow to listen.”

Tierra’s Sophia Bernal asked graduates, “A year ago you signed up for a challenge and said, ‘I’m going to finish my last year of high school at Kaiser. It’s going to be hard and tough, but I’m going to do it.’ Why did you do that? Because you’re awesome! You signed up for a program that gave you an advantage that no one else has. You have Kaiser, LAUSD, Regional Center, and Tierra supporting you. Tierra is so proud to be there on the next step of your journey. Celebrate today, have fun and rest, and then, let’s work!”

Bravo Graduates! Tierra commemorates each of you on this amazing accomplishment and welcomes you to Tierra 🙌 We are so honored to continue alongside you on this next chapter.

Repost from our amazing partners Grocery Outlet 🙌

For those that don’t know we have a great partnership with Tierra Del Sol . They have a terrific internship program where we get to meet and work with wonderful people as part of their learning and workplace development.

We want to celebrate Kimberly and Yamilet who just completed their internship at our store! They were a big part of our team helping customers, cleaning organizing and stocking.

We will miss them! 🌸 But we’re super excited for them and what they will be able to do in their next vocation. 💯✨

We are thrilled to announce that Tierra will be working with Amanda Cachia () as guest curator for our gallery’s upcoming 2028 exhibition, “The Material Alchemy of Disability.” 🙌🖼️🤝

The exhibition will bring Tierra’s studio artists into dialogue with disabled artists from outside our program, creating a dynamic conversation around disability, materiality, access, and artistic practice. 🌞

📚 ✍️ Cachia is a curator, published writer, art historian, and disability arts activist-advocate who has organized twenty exhibitions devoted to the work of disabled artists. She is Professor of Practice in Museum Studies in the School of Art at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University, as well as Affiliate Faculty in the Disability Studies B.A. program.

“The Material Alchemy of Disability” will be developed in tandem with LACMA’s 2028 exhibition Art + Disability, for which Cachia is serving as a curatorial and disability advisor. Cachia’s guest curated exhibition at Tierra del Sol Gallery, on view in West Hollywood, will also coincide with the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We are so excited to be working with you, Amanda!✨ 🥳

🎓 Let's give a big round of applause to the Project SEARCH Interns who successfully completed their internships with Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Woodland Hills!!! 🎉👏🎉

The evening ceremony, which took place on Thursday, May 21, featured inspiring speeches by John Rinaldo, KP Department Administrator of Urgent Care, Rodney Saunders, father to graduate, McKenna Saunders, Brian Jandres, Intern Class Speaker, Sophia Bernal, Tierra Program Director, and a number of additional speakers from LAUSD, North Los Angeles Regional Center, and Project SEARCH's Program Manager, Leslie Anderson.

"From sterile processing, to OBGYN, to supply chain, McKenna did it all. I'm not ashamed to say that my daughter has taught a thing or two regarding adversity. And, that sometimes the only way to find out if the person can succeed, is to put them in situations where you can let it ride and have faith in them. And in McKenna's case, she has totally succeeded!"

Additionally, Murtaza Sanwari, Senior Vice President, Area Manager, Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills & West Ventura County Service Area, shared, "I want to say thank you to all of YOU! You make our jobs, our organization, our leaders, our teammates, and our patients, proud. Thank you and Congratulations Graduates!!!"

Alberto Alvarez, Walker Beswick, Brian Jandres, Luis Mendez, McKenna Saunders, and Suzana Taji Zadegan, Tierra commemorates each of you on this amazing accomplishment and welcomes you to Tierra!!! 🙌 We are so honored to continue alongside you on this next chapter of your career journey.

Tierra’s College to Career students and their coaches got the chance to tour the independent award-winning animation production studios of Titmouse, Inc. today! Students learned about the company’s operations and inquired about career and internship opportunities. Possible Titmouse employees - we definitely think so 🙌☺️🎨

What a wonderful, educational way to spend the day!
