ACTION ALERT 🚨 The chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Rep. Sam Graves, just shared an alarming insight into the future of funding for biking & walking: “It’s gonna be a traditional highway bill — that means building roads and bridges, laying asphalt, pouring concrete…. We’re not gonna be spending money on murals and train stations or bike paths or walking paths."

If Rep. Graves has his way, that could mean zero federal funding for bicycling and walking through 2031. He needs to hear from your Member of Congress: this is unacceptable. Take action at bikeleague.org/action-center »

Do you want more sidewalks? Multi-User paths? Please take a minute to review item 6A on the Committee of the Whole agenda. One alder wants to change city policy and eliminate sidewalks on new construction and rehabilitation street projects. That includes Multi-User paths!

**Construction Notification: Tancho Bike Path Project**

The City of Madison will begin construction of a new bike path at Northeast Park that will connect Tancho Drive to the Sun Prairie Path (and Hwy 151 underpass) starting the week of September 22nd, with an anticipated completion of May 2026.. The project will also include the restoration of the pond shoreline at the Northeast Regional Pond.

***Construction Notification - Bird Street Path Project***

A new project is set to begin this week on Bird Street from Stonehaven Drive to South of Heyday. This project will include the installation of two protected pedestrian crossings as well as the construction of a new 15’ multi-use path on the east side of Bird Street connecting to the Heyday development.

Starting Wednesday, initial work on the site will require two to three days of traffic being narrowed down to one lane with flaggers directing the flow of traffic. Please expect delays, drive with caution, and use a different route if possible. For more construction updates, please visit the City’s Engineering page.
