Members Volunteer at Charitable Food Packing Event

Members of the Sun Lakes (evening) Lions Club recently volunteered at a charitable food packing event at Feed My Starving Children. Members lent their time and energy to help address hunger in the community. The hands-on service effort supported the important work of providing nutritious food to individuals and families in need.

Feed My Starving Children is an organization that believes hope begins with nutritious food. FMSC exists to provide this hope. The organization maintains that nutrition allows children to grow, thrive and develop to their full potential so that they can become productive members of their communities.

FMSC produces three special MannaPack® meal formulas developed by food science and nutrition professionals to supplement nutritional needs and reduce problems with malnutrition.

Our team packed MannaPack Rice which has an excellent source of protein, carbohydrates and key nutrients culturally acceptable worldwide for anyone over the age of one.
During the 2 hours we were there volunteers filled 220 boxes (36 meals per box) which amounts to 47,520 meals. 130 meals will feed kids a meal a day for a year.

By taking part in food packing, our members helped advance one of Lions International’s global causes: hunger. Lions clubs around the world serve through projects such as food collection, preparation and distribution, community feeding events, and other hunger-related service activities that improve access to nutritious food.

The Sun Lakes (evening) Lions Club’s participation reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to service and community support. Volunteers worked together to pack food efficiently and with care, helping ensure that meals and supplies could reach those who need them most.

Service projects like this not only provide immediate relief, but also remind the community of the power of volunteerism and teamwork. Through service, Lions continue to strengthen communities and make a meaningful difference in the fight against hunger.
