Jenny and Sandi received their Dementia Friends certificates after learning from Erica about dementia, communication, empathy and simple ways to better support people living with memory loss.

Sometimes, a visit can mean so much more than a conversation.

For Marguerite and Pam, time together means connection, laughter, companionship and knowing someone cares enough to show up.

Loneliness and social isolation aren’t just feelings. They can have a serious impact on health and well-being, especially for older adults who spend much of their time alone.

That’s why our Friendly Visit program matters.

Our volunteers build real, lasting connections with their neighbors. They share a cup of coffee, talk about life, play a game, or simply sit together and enjoy a little company.

And right now, there are more neighbors who need this kind of connection.

Because sometimes the most meaningful thing you can give someone isn’t a service. It’s your time. Your presence. Your friendship.

September is Healthy Aging Month! 💙

Aging well isn’t just about living longer. It’s about making the years ahead easier, healthier and more fulfilling.

So what can you focus on now?

🚶‍♀️ Keep moving. Walk, stretch, swim, work on balance and find activities you actually enjoy.

🧠 Keep your mind engaged. Learn something new, pick up a hobby, read, create or challenge your brain in a new way.

🤝 Stay connected. Make time for friends, family, neighbors and your community. Social connection matters at every age.

🩺 Stay ahead of your health. Keep up with checkups, screenings, hearing and vision exams, and other preventive care.

Healthy aging doesn’t happen all at once. It’s built through small choices that can make a big difference down the road.

A sweet treat, a friendly face, and a little time together can make an ordinary day feel a whole lot brighter.

This summer, we’ve been bringing ice cream to our clients to add a little sweetness while helping ease loneliness and create connection. 🍦😊

Loneliness is more than a feeling. It can affect our health.

Nearly half of U.S. adults report experiencing loneliness, and the U.S. Surgeon General has identified social isolation and loneliness as significant threats to our health and well-being.

For older adults, the risks can be especially serious. Research shows that loneliness is associated with a 31% higher risk of dementia, while social isolation is linked to a 29% higher risk of premature death.

Connection matters. A friendly visit, a ride to an appointment, or simply having someone call to talk can make a meaningful difference. 💙

Polly can still live in the home she loves, and a little help getting where she needs to go makes that possible. 💙

Through Neighbors Who Care transportation services, Polly gets to important medical appointments, the grocery store, and other places she needs to go.

She can shop. She can make her appointments. She can take care of many of the things she’s always done.

She just needs a neighbor willing to drive.

Our volunteers help make it possible for older adults like Polly to remain independent at home for as long as possible.

Caregiving can start with something small.

It starts with ...

😟 A little worry.
🚗 A few more errands.
🩺 A lot more doctor appointments.
🏠 A greater need for help around the house.
💔 And less and less time for yourself.

Over time, those little things can become a second job. Then a full-time responsibility. And somewhere along the way, caregivers can lose sight of their own needs.

You can't care for your loved one if you don't take care of yourself. That’s why asking for help isn’t selfish. It’s necessary.

At Neighbors Who Care, we support our caregivers with support groups and services that can give their journey something incredibly valuable: a little breathing room.

A little bag of goodies can bring a whole lot of joy! 💙

Neighbors Who Care was happy to partner with Darby Dental for a Day of Giving, bringing tote bags filled with goodies to some of our clients. Volunteers from Darby Dental helped deliver the bags and share a few smiles along the way.

We love seeing our community come together to make a difference and brighten someone’s day! Moments like these remind us how meaningful a simple act of kindness can be.

Thank you to Darby Dental and all of the wonderful volunteers who helped make the day special. We are so grateful for your time and for helping us brighten a day, lift a spirit, and remind our neighbors that they are cared for.

We have a volunteer missing… and we desperately need him! 👀 Maybe it is YOU!

Our Golf Cart & Auto Clinic is coming up, and we need more volunteers to make it happen.

You don't have to be a mechanic. You don't need special skills. You just need a few hours, a willingness to help, and a neighbor who needs you. 💙

Because a simple check of a golf cart or car can help an older adult stay safely on the road and keep getting to the pharmacy, grocery store, and the activities they love.
