CAHT (Campaign Against Human Trafficking – Southshore) holds their first mental health workshop series, Oct. 27 ,9-11 am.

The Zoom workshop title is Trauma Services at Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. Presenters Josephine McCormick, MSW, LCSW, and Patricia Townsend, MSW, LCSW will discuss an overview of Crisis Center services, types of trauma-focused treatments, understanding trauma and its relationship to our brains, and tools to assist trauma patients, students, family members and friends.

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay will be opening a new treatment center in Ruskin later this fall. Their expertise in handling sexual exploitation and r**e cases is well known in the Tampa Bay region. This workshop offers the opportunity to explore trauma scenarios that can be applied to domestic violence issues and other mental health struggles. CAHT is a registered 501©(3) nonprofit serving the south shore area. Its mission is to support the fight against human trafficking and related domestic violence issues by providing educational awareness and prevention activities to schools and the community- at- large. The eleven-year-old, all-volunteer nonprofit works with multi-cultural groups in providing short-term housing and other basic needs to families as well as mentoring, scholarships, and referral services. They also donate needed funding and/or tangible items to at-risk youth, law enforcement, regional anti-human trafficking nonprofits, and rehabilitation homes and centers.

A HUGE THANK YOU

Thanks to all of you who donated to CAHT's request

for assistance for our community.

Thanks to your contributions, we were able to provide approximately $2,000 of food donations and several hundred dollars of Walmart gift cards, which will go a long way to helping our neighbors who were so devastated by Hurricane Ian.

IMPORTANT REQUEST FOR FOOD

Bonnie Doll, Victim's Services Chair, has informed us that two of our Safe Shelters has lost all of their food in the hurricane.

Bonnie is asking for donations of food donations and will accept those donations at her home; 307 Caloosa Woods Lane, Sun City Center.

She will be delivering all donations to the shelter on Thursday, 10/6.

CAHT's Mental Health Series Workshop will be postponed until October 27th, 9-11am.

Please watch for further information.

Presenters will be the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay on sexual exploitation trauma and related trauma issues and stigmas that women and teens face. The presenters will also share tools we can all use in dealing with trauma to ourselves as well as others, that can be applied to all types of traumas and anxiety.
