Sometimes housing instability does not look the way we expect.

A young person may be staying with friends, moving from place to place, living temporarily in a motel, or navigating an unstable housing situation without a parent or guardian, and still show up to school every day carrying more than a backpack.🎒

Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, eligible unaccompanied youth have important educational rights and may have access to support that helps remove barriers to enrollment, attendance, and academic success.

✨Our message to students is simple:
Your current situation does not determine your future.
You deserve stability.
You deserve support.
You deserve the opportunity to succeed.❤️

If you know a student who may be experiencing housing instability, connecting them with the school or district McKinney-Vento liaison can be an important first step.
