9th Annual Boy Scouts BBQ Cook-Off
The Henry Shelor District’s 9th Annual Boy Scouts Barbeque Cook-Off is a championship event sanctioned by the South Carolina Barbeque Association and features some of South Carolina’s most competitive BBQ teams, LIVE music and family activities. Enjoy family fun and good eats Friday night March 27that “Wing Ding Night” from 5:30-9:00 pm. Saturday March 28th is the “Pork BBQ Tasting” & Ribs Competition from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Located at the American Legion Post 15 Fair Grounds, 30 Artillery Drive in Sumter. Proceeds from this event benefit the Boy Scouts P*e Dee Council Programs.
The BBQ cook off is open to all BBQ enthuses. Prizes for the Ninth Annual Barbecue Cook-Off benefiting the Boy Scouts include: $1,000.00, First Place; $750.00, Second Place; $500.00, Third Place; $250.00 Friday Night Wing Ding Winner. Competition will be at its tastiest with local, statewide area teams and affiliates from the South Carolina Barbeque Association.
Both days will be full of fun for the entire family. A free children’s area including jump castle, games and face painting (by Renee Robins of Palmetto Party Faces) will be available. While you enjoy the tasty flavors’ you, your family and friends can enjoy our dynamic entertainment... live bands both days!
The 9th Annual Henry Shelor District BBQ Cook-Off funds raised will be used to support Camp Coker and to help support district camporees and the P*e Dee Council Programs. The P*e Dee Council was organized in 1928, it is composed of 11 counties in northeastern South Carolina. Henry Shelor has about 750 scouts in programs ranging from Cub Scouts to venture Scouts. The district includes Sumter, Lee, and Clarendon Counties. Camp Coker is a year-round facility and plays host to a variety of scouting events including: Unit Camping Opportunities, Training Courses, Council Events, District Events, and OA Functions.
