Today, on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we join communities around the world in raising awareness about elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation, while reaffirming our commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and well-being of older adults.

Every older adult deserves to live with dignity, respect, and security. Yet an estimated 1 in 10 older Americans experiences elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation. This day reminds us of our shared responsibility to protect, respect, and support older adults and to ensure they can age with dignity, safety, and independence.

By working together, we can strengthen the social connections and community supports that help prevent abuse and promote justice for all.

Last Friday, we had a wonderful time at the Santee Lynches Volunteer Ombudsman Meet & Greet! It was a great opportunity to bring together current volunteers, community partners, and supporters to connect, share experiences, and learn more about the important role Volunteer Ombudsmen play in advocating for residents across the Santee Lynches region.
