We had such a blessed time at Community Mentorship today! 💜

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with meaningful conversations, laughter, learning, and encouragement. We are grateful for every young girl who joined us and for the opportunity to continue creating a safe space where they can grow in confidence, faith, character, and purpose.

A special thank you to Mrs. Amber Nesmith for assisting with Community Mentorship today. We truly appreciate your time, support, and willingness to pour into our young girls. Your presence and help contributed to making today’s session such a blessing.

We are thankful for what God is doing through Community Mentorship: Chosen for More and excited to continue reminding our girls that they are valuable, their voices matter, and they have been chosen for more—for such a time as this.

The Little Things!

Children don’t always need the perfect words or a big gesture to feel loved.

Sometimes it’s you looking up when they walk in the room and saying, “I’m glad you’re home.”

It’s remembering they hate mushrooms. Asking how that game went. Sitting beside them after a tough school day, even when they don’t feel like talking.

It’s giving them five uninterrupted minutes. Noticing when they try. Telling them you love being their parent or carer.

And after the shouting, the slammed door, the bedtime argument or the tears, it’s reminding them: “We had a hard moment. I still love you. That hasn’t changed.”

The little things are not little to a child. They become the memories that tell them, over and over, “I matter here.”

• Wateree Community Actions — 17 Broad St., Sumter, SC.

• Salvation Army — 16 Kendrick St., Sumter, SC.

• City of Sumter Water Assistance Program — provides short-term assistance to eligible residents experiencing temporary financial hardship through its partnership with Sumter United Ministries.

Young girls ages 11–18 will enjoy real conversations and positive connections as we talk about self-confidence, healthy friendships, leadership, goal setting, communication, and making wise choices.
