Every member who walks through our doors deserves to get where they're going, easily and with dignity. That's why we're so grateful to The Summit Foundation for a $40,000 grant supporting our elevator modernization project at the Summit YMCA.

This grant means safer, more reliable access for our seniors, our families with strollers, and every member who relies on it daily. It's the next chapter in a building that's served Summit since 1886, and we couldn't be more thankful for a partner who believes in keeping it strong for generations to come.

The Summit Foundation Board of Trustees is pleased to announce $436,444 in grants to 26 area nonprofit organizations. These grants support older adults, public space enhancements, healthcare, education, disability programs, the arts, youth development, and food distribution.

A new Rifton Adaptive Tricycle will help P.G. Chambers School students build strength, improve coordination, and join outdoor activities with their peers!

P.G. Chambers serves children ages 3-14 with developmental and other related disabilities, offering comprehensive education, therapy, and state-of-the-art technology.

The Summit Foundation is pleased to support the purchase of this specialized equipment as part of $436,444 in grants recently approved by its Board of Trustees for local nonprofits, including P.G. Chambers School.

Since 2000, The Summit Foundation has continually granted funds to ensure our neighbors have access to fresh, healthy food.

Recently, board member Paul Formichelli joined GRACE during one of its weekly distributions, helping provide food and essential supplies to those who work, worship, and receive care in Summit.

We are proud to support organizations like GRACE, whose dedicated volunteers meet our community's immediate needs week after week.

Mabie Memorial Playground is nearing completion! Take a look at the progress on Summit’s first all-abilities, intergenerational playground.

Thoughtfully designed to include every child, the playground features wheelchair-accessible dual-lane ziplines, a sensory-friendly main play structure that is fully wheelchair accessible, and a communication board with pictures to support inclusive play.

Hats off to The Foundation's five Elevating Summit Students Scholarship recipients! The scholarship supports first-generation college bound students who possess a strong academic record, ongoing extracurricular involvement, and good character.

“At first, I didn’t want to stay for the Homework Club class because I was very tired after a whole day in school. I’m so happy I decided to give the class a try... Thanks to Sra. Vicente, I was able to finish the U.S. history project and got a very good grade.” – Angelica

These words from a student in Empowering Kids Organization’s James W. Northrop After School Program show the importance of extracurricular support. Thanks to organizations like EKO, more students are receiving the assistance they deserve.

With help from our grant, EKO provided a Homework Club, a college readiness class, and an English as a Second Language course to 30 students in Summit. The students demonstrated increased engagement, improved organizational skills, and greater confidence discussing their educational and career goals.

We are proud to support EKO’s work in helping students build the skills and confidence they need for the future.

The Summit Foundation was proud to support Summit Public Art’s 2025 installations of permanent and temporary art that provides communal cultural experiences to all those who live, work in, and visit Summit. The Foundation recognizes the benefit of public art, which turns ordinary spaces into meaningful places.
