Welcome to 2021, phew! It has been one crazy year. From Zoom business meetings to virtual happy hour and remote learning, I know that we are all looking forward to life going back to normal.

But one great thing that I learned in 2020 is that I can create Memories Live movies for anyone, worldwide, without losing quality and more importantly the connection with my clients — virtually mirrors our in-person option.

Since every day of 2020 has been a blursday (one of the defining words of 2020 referring to the difficulty in determining what day of the week it is), here is a reminder of 5 things you should know about Memories Live:

I use the power of film to help people facing life-limiting illnesses preserve their images, stories and wisdom for those they love.
The organization is literally a “one woman” show. I am the filmmaker, marketer, coordinator, interviewer, editor and producer.
My services have touched the lives of thousands of family members from all over the country. I have traveled throughout the New York tri-state region to work with clients in their homes or at their bedsides. I’ve also worked with clients as far away as Illinois and Seattle.
In nearly eleven years, Memories Live has assisted over 200 magnificent, inspiring, funny, creative, shy, heroic and kind individuals tell their personal stories.
There is no cost to families for a Memories Live movie. This organization (of which I am the only employee) is supported solely by grants and donations.
As we welcome in 2021, let say good-bye to social distancing (not just yet) and hello to a year filled with health, laughs and lots of hugs. Thank you for believing in me, my mission and Memories Live.

Warmly,
Kerry

Ten years ago today I launched Memories Live and everyday I am grateful for the time I have had helping families keep their loved one’s memories alive.

Many of you may not know that Memories Live was conceived after I learned of a local mother of two young children under the age of five that had passed away from lung cancer. She was only 39 years old. I was around the same age. It struck me, being the mother of two little boys, that they would never know the sound of her voice, learn her mannerisms, or hear her advice and her stories. They would never have the chance to truly know their mother even in the smallest way — many of the things that we take for granted daily. At dinner that evening, after deeply feeling for this mom, Memories Live was born.

Over the past decade, I have filmed over 200 incredible individuals. Each one has taught me so much about life, death and how precious every minute is.

After 10 years, through the advancements of technology, I have the ability to film remotely, broadening my services to anyone, anywhere. Recently, I have been able to meet and film amazing people in Texas, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Washington. Even though I’m not physically there, my support and guidance has not changed — being with them every step of the way to create a memorable leave behind for their family.

I believe we all have a story to tell and I’m proud of what Memories Live is able to do for people.

Thank you for believing in me, my mission and Memories Live for the last 10 years.

Warmly,
Kerry

Since inception in 2010, Memories Live has been using the power of film to help people facing life-limiting illnesses preserve their images, stories and wisdom for those left behind. The world has changed and the COVID-19 pandemic has created over 100,000 families across the country grieving for loved ones who for most have not had the ability to say goodbye.
To fill this void, Memories Live has expanded the organization’s mission to offer their service to those families who have lost a loved one to COVID-19. The goal is to create a video collection of stories and memories of friends and family about their loved one to keep their memory alive for the children and spouse left behind.

I cannot believe it has been 10 years since I started Memories Live. Throughout these years, I have had the amazing opportunity to film over 200 incredible individuals, all of whom have shared their unique and cherished stories with me. They have opened up their homes and hearts to share their family history, advice, reveal secret recipes, sing songs, play guitar, read poetry and even share bedtime stories. Each movie is unique and special as they all are.

Please join me on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 to celebrate these individuals and 10 years of Memories Live making movies. The event will take place at the Racquets Club, in Short Hills at 7:30 PM.

I am looking forward to a memorable evening.
