🎉💜It was officially MS. MAHONEY DAY! 💛🎉

Today, we celebrated someone who deserves ALL the confetti — our amazing principal, Ms. Mahoney, and her incredible 30 years of dedication to South Jefferson Elementary! 🥳📚

The day was filled with so much love, including boxes FULL of handmade cards and pictures from our students — each one a little reminder of just how many lives Ms. Mahoney has touched over the years. 💌🖍️

And because she’s truly “Nacho Average Principal,” 🌮😎 the PTO Board Members treated our teachers and staff to a Nacho Average Principal nacho bar lunch in her honor!

Thirty years is a BIG milestone, and we are so grateful for the years of love, leadership, encouragement, and dedication Ms. Mahoney has poured into South Jefferson Elementary.

Happy Ms. Mahoney Day! We hope you felt every bit of the love today, Ms. Mahoney! We are so lucky to have you! 🎉💜💛🌮

🎉 Tomorrow is Ms. Mahoney Day! 🎉

We’re celebrating and honoring someone very special at South Jefferson — Ms. Mahoney and her incredible 30 years in education! 🥳📚❤️

Our students have been busy creating some special surprises for her, and we can’t wait to see her reaction! 🥰

We’d also love for our South Jefferson parents, families, and former students to join in the celebration! If Ms. Mahoney has made a difference in your child’s life, leave a comment below with a kind word, a favorite memory, or a simple “thank you.” You’re also welcome to send a card to school for her! 💌

And because she is “Nacho Average Principal,” 🌮🧀 the PTO Board members are treating all of our amazing teachers and staff to a nacho bar luncheon tomorrow in her honor!

Ms. Mahoney, we appreciate everything you do for our students, teachers, parents, and staff at South Jefferson. Your dedication, leadership, and heart have made a difference in so many lives over the past 30 years, and we are so grateful for YOU! 💜💛

What an awesome day!
Our students excelled, while practicing our safety drills throughout the day and they were AMAZING! Please make sure you compliment them on their exceptional work!
It was also a full house at our Back to School event—-just like we like it!! Thank you for your support of SJES! We are grateful for your partnership!

Just a reminder: Tomorrow is Safety Day at SJES! See the letter in your child’s backpack for more details. We will be reviewing our drills and learning how to exit the building for a fire drill, what a hold drill means, etc. I assure you that we will conduct this in a positive way, supporting and praising our students through the entire process.

What an AWESOME first week! 🥳
Thank you to everyone for your enthusiasm, grace, flexibility and support! Our staff and students are doing an incredible job, learning routines and getting to know one another. Super proud of everyone! 💜💛
See you at Back to School night on Monday, August 24th! Please select one of the four time slots (5:00, 5:30, 6:00 or 6:30) to visit your child’s homeroom and to hear all about our year ahead, uninterrupted. The rest of your visit can be spent visiting our specialists and meeting our PTO. Also, a great chance to pick up some new spirit wear! Looking forward to seeing you!!

We had a surprise visitor today at SJES: Rugby, the newest member of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office! Rugby is the first explosive-detection K-9 partner in WV and he recently graduated from the ATF National Canine Division Center, alongside his partner, Deputy Aaron Hutcherson, a K-9 officer. We are grateful to Deputy Hutcherson and Patrol Sergeant (and awesome SJES parent!) Vince Tiong for setting up the visit for us. EVERYONE wanted to pet Rugby—-staff and students alike! Rugby is welcome at SJES any time and we wish him the best of luck in his new position at the Sheriff’s Office! Thanks for keeping us safe! 🐾🚔🦮

We’ve had an awesome two days! Thank you to everyone, for their patience and grace, as we work out the logistics of welcoming over 400 students back to SJES!
Don’t forget: our Back to School/Meet the Teacher event is Monday, August 24th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm (we’ll be holding four separate sessions so you have time to visit multiple teachers and classrooms!).
