Our club members raced for the The ARK on Saturday to support the great work of this Summerville-based Alzheimer's support services organization.

Thanks to (relatively) mild August weather, a 7:45am start time, water stations, and our wonderful Summerville neighbors spraying us with their garden hoses on the route, we stayed (again, relatively) cool.

Hey Tri-County peeps! We recently welcomed Michel’le Cathey, Associate Director for the Summerville The ARK - Alzheimer's Family Support Services. She shared all of the incredible ways her organization supports those living with Alzheimer's and those who care for them. Show The Ark some love by running/walking their 5K or 1K on August 15th through scenic historic Summerville. Details at www.thearkofsc.org. Our club already has a team signed up—come join us!

We're also proud to announce Kevin Alan Anderson graduated up to his blue badge by finishing new member orientation in style by showing up fo everything, every time. He's always ready to help our community, and that's what Rotary International is all about.

His message was simple. Participate. Speak up. And live the Rotary way to improve our communities and the world. Incoming Rotary International District 7770 Governor Herman Dixon shared these three traits that make for strong Rotary clubs. To that we say, check, check, check. Regan Westra received an award for embodying the Four Way Test. Kevin Alan Anderson received the People of Action award for always showing up and jumping into action. Lastly, Herman encouraged us to have fun as we serve. Our club has noooooo problem making that happen.

Our End of Year banquet was loaded with feel-good moments, great food, and fellowship. We celebrated another year of service to our community and acknowledged several club members (and one honorary member) with awards for their above-and-beyond contributions:

This past weekend, our Rotarians were out in force supporting a cause that is close to our hearts: the Charleston Memorial Stair Climb. This event pays tribute to the 412 first responders lost on 9/11/01 as well as the Charleston Nine firefighters and other local first responders who have perished in the line of duty.

Our volunteers supported the event by cooking and serving BBQ to hundreds of hungry climbers, and we had club members who completed the climb.

If you'd like to show your support for first responders, sign up for this event next year. They won't forget it, and neither will you.

We come together to uplift other local causes throughout the year with the goal of strengthening our community. Because .

📢Please join us in welcoming our two newest members to the Summerville Evening Rotary Club!

Kissie Pinkston is a local business owner who brings a passion for service and community involvement. She has served with organizations including the National Exchange Club and the American Business Women's Association of Charleston.

Kathy Cotone is retired after a 30-year career at CR Machine Co. in Massachusetts and brings a wealth of business and leadership experience. Even before becoming a member, she volunteered at several of our service projects.

We're excited to have both Kissie and Kathy as part of our Rotary family and look forward to their continued impact on our community!
