South Carolina State University will welcome home alumna Sa’Rah L. Jones, an acclaimed television writer and producer whose work spans network television, streaming platforms and Lifetime Original Movies, for the Dream to Screen: Industry Insider’s Master Class on Oct. 13-15, 2026.

A 1995 SC State graduate, Jones earned a Bachelor of Arts in professional English with a minor in broadcasting. During the three-day master class, she will share insights on storytelling, writing for television, producing, building a career in entertainment and navigating the evolving media landscape.

“Sa’Rah Jones exemplifies the creativity, excellence, and determination that define South Carolina State University graduates,” said Dr. David Staten, associate provost for Academic Affairs. “Her return gives our students a rare opportunity to learn directly from an accomplished industry professional who began her journey right here at SC State.”

Congratulations Mr. Brown!

I was honored to join Mayor Russ Touchberry, Town Councilman Dexcter Mack, members of our legislative delegation, and members of the town and county councils and community for the dedication of the Aaron Brown Depot Building at Doty Park.

Former Town Councilman Aaron Brown devoted 20 years to serving this community and was a steady, trusted leader whose commitment made a lasting difference.

Today, we honor not only his service, but the legacy he leaves behind.

His impact will be felt for years to come, and this dedication ensures future generations will remember his contributions to the community he proudly served.
