Today is Teen Court. If you or your teen is interested in participating and helping the community, show up tonight 11-6-2025 at the courthouse in Summersville at 4. This is for all public school, private school or homeschool Kids in the nichols county area.

We have missed working with the teens. It has been awhile since ive been able to make this announcement.

Teen Court November 6th starting at 4. We are starting anew. We will be looking at new prosecutors and defense attorneys. We will do some training and hear a case or 2.

Dinner will be provided. I cant wait to see the new group of teens we get to work with. Contact Aaron Evans and Betty Jo Cole Donato if you have any questions.

You have seen posts about Teen Court, and you've probably wondered what teen court is.
Teen Court is an alternative and to the traditional juvenile justice and magistrate court system. Basically, it's designed to give kids, who commit a crime, another chance without giving them a criminal record.
Its a court proceeding, backed by WV State Law, that is ran by teenagers.
A teenage prosecutor.
A teenage defense
Jury of teenagers
Even the clerk and bailiff are teenagers.

The teen commits an offense and is brought before the teen court, and is given community service, educational classes, and sometimes even research assignments based upon their offense, in place of fines, probation, or jail time.

Teen court Thursday 6-12-2025 at 4pm. Come early, get food, and be a part of the solution.

Teen court volunteers take on court personnel roles. We need jurors. We need prosecutors. We need defense attorneys. Conisder hanging out with us for a couple hours. All teenagers on Nicholas County welcome.
