Sumava is 99 years young and on the cusp of an incredible milestone! What does this legacy mean to you? As our community prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, it's clear that our best days are still ahead. Over the past seven years, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of community spirit, and it's been nothing short of remarkable. Despite the challenges posed by rising housing prices, Sumava has become a thriving hub, attracting families who see its potential and are investing their hearts and souls into our beautiful homes. The recent renovation of our park has breathed new life into our little corner of Newton County, nestled along the Kankakee River, and it's now a hub of activity for young families. This progress warms my heart and inspires me to invite everyone to join us in celebrating this milestone. We're gearing up for a weekend extravaganza in the summer of 2027, featuring a parade, our beloved Duck Race, vendors, activities, and games for all ages. You don't have to be a resident to be part of this moment; our historical club is open to all for just $25 a year, which helps keep our community center vibrant and accessible. We invite you to join the committee and help shape the celebrations – meetings take place monthly on the second Saturday of every month. Let's come together to make this anniversary one for the ages!

It took a small village ♥️ Thank you everyone that grabbed a load, and to Megan for renting a trailer and taking most of it in one shot. Thank you to Christina, Cheyenne, Katie, Kacy, and Will for helping bag and load up the trailer. The club floors are swept and mopped and ready for hall rentals!!! YES!!! Sumava Improvement Club can be rented!!! Perfect for kids birthday parties (we have games), baby showers, small weddings, family reunions, etc. Please reach out for rental information. On a side note, consider joining Sumava Improvement Club. You do NOT have to be a resident to join. Benefits of becoming a member… discount on hall rentals, private members only events, and a good way to volunteer ♥️ Next year is Sumava’s 100 year anniversary!!! STAY TUNED

Thank you to everyone who donated time, goods, food, and clothing to help our LV neighbors ♥️ Sumava Improvement Club could use some help Friday, April 3rd getting anything left to our partnering resale centers. We will be at SIC from 9am until 3pm. Any car load, truck or trailer full would be appreciated. We had many families come through, and we are confident it will take just a few trips.
