These little moments 🫶 further proof that you don’t need to be hands-on to have special moments with captive wildlife.

Just because other species don’t communicate in the same verbal language we do, doesn’t mean they aren’t communicating with us and their environment. But to truly experience and understand this, you gotta get out of their way… whether that’s up a tree or a safe distance away (trees are always my preferred method 😏)

Today we launched a 15-day campaign to raise money for Project Ramu! Introducing the compassion collection 🐘

Help us feed working elephants in Nepal!!! 🐘

The bull elephant we've been working with here in Nepal (Ramu) lives at a camp with seven other elephants. This camp is doing such an amazing job switching over to an ethical model and phasing out elephant rides, and thanks to your support we have been able to buy enough hay to feed ALL EIGHT elephants! 🥳

We have also purchased and planted fields of corn to ensure all the elephants have constant access to high-quality food. Our total cost of this project is $2,525 and we are currently at $1,300 which has covered the cost of the hay (YAY!!!)

We need your help to get the rest of the way to this goal. Please support and share if you can and together we can improve the lives of these elephants! 💛🐘

A positive update about chanchal! 🐘

She started trying to drink from the hose as of today 👏🏼 dehydration is a huge concern in her condition, so it’s wonderful to see her getting some water into her body!

We've been getting many messages regarding our current project, which is working to improve the welfare of bull, Ramu. Many people are asking about his chains, and fundraising has been slow, likely in part due to that shocking imagery leading people to question the project.

The truth is, if his life was ideal at the moment, we wouldn't be working so hard to help change his reality. Many elephants around Asia are chained full-time because owners don't have the funds to build strong enough structures, mahouts are afraid of the elephants, or they don't know any other method of management.

This is where we come in. We aim to help alleviate these issues for elephant owners and mahouts by introducing new methods, working with them to get comfortable with the elephants again, and bringing in the resources required to make that change.

But of course, none of this can happen overnight. True and lasting change takes TIME, TRUST, and RESOURCES to create. And along the way, each small step makes a world of difference to the animal in desperate need of change.

So yes, Ramu is heavily chained. And that's one of the reasons we started this fundraiser: to provide the level of care he needs and provide him one day with a chain-free enclosure where he can live a life with more freedoms.

But to get to that point, we need your help! Together, we can break the chains that have been holding him. Please share and donate if you can so we can continue making small steps toward a big change.

As the monsoon season draws nearer, we are running out of time to buy enough hay to last Ramu through the wet season. It's so important he is eating enough and gaining back the weight and muscle he's lost over the years since being chained in one spot!
