Masonry has been repaired and our roof has been replaced. More work needs to be done inside, then will come the task of replacing display cases, bringing items back into the building and restablishing displays. We will open again eventually and when we do we will shout it from the rooftops! Stay tuned! ❣️

Due to the tornado damage to our roof and the subsequent rainfall, it will probably be a year before the museum will be able to open again. All display items are stored in a separate location and displays will be reinstalled and improvements. You can check with the Sulphur OK Chamber of Commerce for updates.

Edit: highest donation is currently $30, 2 hours left! 🙂

Our museum tour guide Cassandra Fay Combs has created this oil painting of the Monkey Tree which sparkles with gold glitter as if fireflies are around it. The size is 8x10”.

Largest donation to the museum’s PayPal in the next 24 hours gets the painting!

We appreciate your support of the Museum and all of Sulphur’s recovery. Museums PayPal link is here: https://paypal.me/ArbuckleHistory?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US

Work continues on the inside of the Arbuckle Historical Society museum building in Sulphur. Outwardly, it looks mostly the same. Inside, it is vastly different. The next step is for mold and mildew mitigation specialists to work on the inside. It will all be okay again somehow in some way, but it will take a long time.
*We do have our PayPal account reactivated if you would like to make a donation or get a membership. I think the way to access it is to type

*Memberships are $15 yearly or Lifetime $100
*We will be open again someday, but I can't begin to say when. This occurrence is huge, but it pales in comparison to what people who have lost home, business, job, and may also have injuries.

UPDATE: Museum exhibit items were carried out on April 30 and stored in a secure location by many wonderful volunteers. Our next task will be to move all the items to a climate-controlled storage. When that is scheduled, we will need more wonderful volunteers, trailers, tarps, ropes, straps, enclosed vehicles, and a clear day. ~Mary Lou Heltzel, Volunteer Administrator of the Arbuckle Historical Society of Murray County, Sulphur, OK. VOLUNTEERS WILL BE NEEDED AT A FUTURE DATE.

Volunteers emptied the building of exhibits, bless them! exhibit items are stored in a secure location. State inspectors did not condemn the museum building. FEMA has inspected the building. Board of Directors member Neil Mayo is doing everything possible to stop rain from coming in, dry out the rooms, and working to prevent mold. Mail is being forwarded to a secure location. We do have a PayPal account. If you wish to donate for recovery expenses, you can use PayPal or send checks to Arbuckle Historical Society, 402 W. Muskogee, Sulphur, Oklahoma 73086.
