Today we mourn the loss of an American icon, a beloved philanthropist and a proud 4-H alumna, Dolly Parton. Her extraordinary life was defined not only by her incredible talent, but by her unwavering generosity, compassion and commitment to helping others.

For generations of young people, Dolly embodied what it means to use your gifts in service of others. From her roots in 4-H to her lifelong investment in literacy, education and community, she showed us that true leadership is grounded in humility, kindness, and purpose. As Dolly once said, "storms make trees take deeper roots." 💚

A proud 4-H alumna, she reminded us that challenges can strengthen us and help us grow. That wisdom will continue to inspire young people and communities for generations to come. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the millions whose lives she touched. Her legacy of hope, generosity, and service will live on. 🍀

Projects that went to the Indiana State Fair will be available to pick up at the Extension office starting on Tuesday, August 25. The office will be open from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm on that day for your convenience. If you picked up your project from the State Fair, your ribbon and judging sheet will be available for pick up at the office.

We are 1 week out from the 2026 Post-Fair Meeting on Tuesday, August 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the 4-H Building.

We welcome feedback from everyone! 4-H members, families, volunteers, superintendents, exhibitors, fairgoers, and community members.

Whether you have suggestions, compliments, concerns, or new ideas, we'd love to hear them. Your input helps us continue improving the Sullivan County 4-H Fair and ensures it remains a great experience for everyone involved.

Applications are open for the Achievement, Citizenship & National Leadership Awards!

Short essays are due to the Extension Office by September 4, 2026, at 4:00 PM.

Check your August newsletter and/or your 4-H Online email for application details!

The Achievement Awards program will be Sunday, November 1, 2026, in the 4-H Building at 2 p.m. Invitations will be mailed to those who will be receiving an award. For more information, contact the Extension office at 812-268-4332.
