One of the best perks of participating in events like our Earth Day Clean Up is the sense of community that comes from working on a shared goal and coming together to share stories and success! Sullivan is blessed with great people.

Did we mention that we feed our volunteers for the Earth Day Clean Up? Boy Oh Boy, do we ever!! Thank you to all of the individuals that provided so much yummy food from breakfast munchies to lunch entrees, sides and desserts! Special thanks to our local restaurants that always come through for us; Flanders Bay BBQ, The Black Sheep Restaurant and Tracey’s Seafood. We appreciate you all.

More thank yous to volunteers. In addition to the teams along the road, we had an amazing support crew helping to set up, handout tools, put out road signs, register volunteers, provide safety instructions and run supplies to volunteers in the field. It really does take a small army.

Just close your eyes and think, give an in-depth look at everything in the universe. You observe that almost everything follows the Principle of Change, and it passes through series and cycles. The earth revolves around the sun, the moon around the planet. The day ends at night, and the night ends with another day. Likewise, the four seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, when affixed to our lives, have their own rhythms and unfold so much truth.

Our lives also have seasons and cycles, some are expansive, and some are contracted. Some celebrate the bloom, and some call for hibernation. All the seasons add assorted color to life. Every season has a particular time duration, and after that, a new season arises.

What a Clean Up day we had!! We have so many people to thank and pictures to share. We’ll be processing those soon. In the mean time, I have to give a huge shout out to all of these folks (and many more) that spent their day helping to make Sullivan Shine. More than 70 people contributed to the success of this event. We are grateful to them all and the businesses that supported us. You should all be very proud of your efforts. You are appreciated.

The AARP Fraud Watch Network™ Helpline (877-908-3360) is hearing from more people about misleading “free trial” offers. These schemes make cancellation difficult, if not impossible.

In many cases, someone signs up for what appears to be a free trial and then cancels before having to pay for the subscription. However, the charges continue to appear each month, and the companies make it hard to cancel them. Before you sign up for a free trial offer, review all the terms and conditions to understand exactly what you’re agreeing to, how and when to cancel, and what happens if you don’t.

Also, review your bank and credit card statements carefully and watch for recurring charges you didn’t authorize—even after you’ve canceled.

You’ve probably seen ads online, on TV, or on social media for subscription offers. They could be for anything from beauty creams and dietary supplements to snacks and magazines.
