US 1 TRAFFIC: YOUR VOICE MATTERS
At the upcoming Monroe County BOCC meeting on Wednesday, October 21, commissioners will consider the 2026 US 1 Level of Service (LOS) Study, which gives the Overseas Highway a passing grade for traffic.
But does that match what we're actually experiencing on US 1?
A Citizens Committee reviewing the study has identified concerns with the methodology, including the exclusion of delays caused by construction, school buses, school zones, and Snake Creek drawbridge openings. On US 1, we can't simply take another road to avoid these delays.
SSPOA has joined 23 other organizations in asking the BOCC to reconvene a special task force to review how traffic conditions and highway capacity are being measured.

🍕 Thanks to everyone who joined us for the SSPOA Pizza Party on October 2!

It was a great evening of good food, good neighbors, and catching up with friends. We loved seeing so many Sugarloaf Shores neighbors come out and enjoy the evening together.

Thanks for making it such a fun night — we’re already looking forward to the next one!

Apologies for the late notice, I thought I had scheduled this to go out yesterday! You may have noticed that Yard Waste was not picked up today, it has been changed to Thursdays. Recycling is now Wednesday. Trash remains the same.

On Saturday, a piece of jewelry was found where people park their cars to go to the jumping bridge. This kind person would like to get it back to its rightful owner. Please message us to tell us what you lost if you think it may be yours!
