The day honors all individuals living with a history of cancer, from the moment of diagnosis through the rest of their lives, while also raising awareness about the challenges of cancer survivorship.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dawann Steagall on May 31st due to complications from renal medullary carcinoma (RMC).
Several members of our board had the privilege of meeting Dawann, his mother Belinda, and his fiancée, Jazz, while in Houston. From the moment we met him, it was evident that Dawann was a fighter. He faced this disease head on with courage, determination, and an unwavering belief that he could beat it.
Dawann’s strength, hope, and resilience touched so many lives. Even during difficult moments, he continued to inspire those around him through his perseverance and spirit. While RMC may have taken his life, it never took his fight.
Today, we remember Dawann not only as an RMC warrior, but as a son, fiancé, friend, and member of our RMC family. We extend our deepest condolences to Belinda, Jazz, and all who loved him.
Please keep the Steagall family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this unimaginable loss. We honor Dawann’s legacy by continuing the fight for awareness, support, and hope for every RMC patient and family.
