Proposed Lidl Grocery Store on Highway 20 near the entrance
We have been made aware of a proposed Lidl grocery store (a new German grocer) near the entrance to Emerald Lake. It's location is on the lot just on the side of the current HWY 20 construction trailers. This could have a large impact to our community such as increased noise, unsightly views from homes within the community and lighting issues at night.
Additionally, there could be concern about its viability to remain in business due to competition from Publix, Kroger & Aldi up the street in Cu***ng, as well as a newly approved Trader Joes in downtown Sugar Hill.
This project was just approved by the Planning Commission to be heard by the Mayor and Council. This means the Planning Commission finds enough value in the project to proceed to be heard by the Mayor and Council.
There are two meetings that need to be attended by residents of Emerald Lake. They are as follows:
Tuesday July 5th, 7:00 pm - The Planning Commission makes the recommendation to the Mayor and Council in a "Work Session".
Monday July 11th, 7:30 pm - The Mayor and Council announce their decision at the council meeting.
We all know this land will be developed at some point. We just feel that this project is too large to be this close to residential properties.
Additionally, we need all email addresses in each household to send an email to the Mayor and all Council members to voice their opinions on this project. Here are the Mayors and Council members emails.
