The Most Worshipful St. John Grand Lodge, Free & Accepted Ancient York Masons (F.&A.A.Y.M.), carries a proud and historic lineage rooted deep within Prince Hall Origin / National Compact Freemasonry.

Originally chartered as Mount Olive Grand Lodge under the authority of National Grand Master Captain William D. Matthews, our jurisdiction was established to unite lodges under a sacred charter: to foster moral strength, spread light, and practice Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.

Through the visionary leadership of Capt. Matthews—a historic abolitionist, Civil War officer, and National Grand Master—the seeds were planted for a lasting Masonic foundation in our Commonwealth.

As our brotherhood grew and evolved into M.W. St. John Grand Lodge, we maintained an unbroken line to those ancient landmarks, original laws, and noble principles.

Today, as Brethren laboring between the pillars of Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty, we honor our origins from Mount Olive Grand Lodge and the pioneering legacy of Capt. William D. Matthews by continuing to build better men, support our communities, and keep the Masonic light burning bright.
