Rescued from a feral colony as wee babies, they struggled with lack of socialization and severe upper respiratory infections. With a little tender loving care and most importantly, time, these two cuties are now healthy and feeling right at home inside. They’ve even become very affectionate and confident kittens!

This update is over due but there’s not really too much to report. 🤷🏽‍♀️

After being run over by a car, little Mako spent time at animal control, where no one came to claim her before joining our foster club last week. She has now undergone the operation to remove her broken leg and she’s been in healing mode for the past few days. One thing we learned while she was in surgery was that, what was originally thought to be an abdominal tear based on X-rays was actually a large hematoma on her spleen, so the spleen was removed. She also received her spay surgery while she was under.

Mako does not know it yet, but she’s settled in for extended crate rest while she heals from not only the amputation, but to give her shattered pelvis ample time to ‘hopefully’ fuse back together. It could be October before she gets any real moving around time. 😬 It’s going to be a struggle but we will do all we can to keep her comfortable and entertained.

Meanwhile, Mako would like for us to tell everyone that she doesn’t like to be looked at while she’s eating and she absolutely H A T E S the cone and tries to use it to shovel her 💩 away when she goes in her crate. This, as you can imagine, is tons of fun for her keeper, esp when it gets into the seams of the cone.🫪

Anyyyywayyy, we’re extremely grateful to everyone who contributed to Mako’s surgery. We’re glad to be able to help this sweet girl and can’t wait to get her back on her feet, running, jumping and playing as a young pup should be!

This little sweetie is only 22lbs and a perfect age - 3! he’s already thru puppyhood and the terrible twos! This shelter is only 40 minutes south of Suffolk and they are FULL of adoptable cuties!! Go check them out this Saturday from 11-1!

It seems that Sparky and Yodel would like to go home together! 🐈‍⬛🐈

Sparky is independent and not super interested in affection from people but he absolutely adores wrestling and playing with the other foster kittens.

Yodel is super snuggly and loves affection and he also adores playing with other kittens.

Not a day goes by however, that we don’t walk into the room and find them napping together. They always seem to find each other when they get sleepy and it’s just the cutest thing ever. 🥹

Baby Mako is scheduled for surgery today. Please send love. 💕 🙏🏻

After being run over by a car, young Mako experienced severe trauma to her tiny, 9lb body to include a snapped femur, a shattered pelvis and a tear in her abdominal wall. Today we are amputating her back left leg because of the broken femur, repairing the abdominal tear and spaying her, since she will be under anesthesia and it needs to be done. As for her pelvis, (based on recommendations from a specialist) we are hoping with all of our hearts that with extreme crate rest, it will fuse back together on its own as surgery isn’t really an option. 🙏🏻

The quote for today’s procedures is $3500. So far we’ve raised about $800 thanks to some amazing supporters, but we’ve got to raise more. Rescue doesn’t stop for one big medical case and we’ve got oodles of kittens to spay/neuter, foster animals to feed (some with prescription diets), other medical cases to treat, including a kitten with FIP. We will need to replenish the lost funds from today’s vet visit to be able to help the other fur babies in our care. Please consider a donation if you’re able!

⚡️Sparky has ALOT going for him…

…he’s show-stopping handsome, super smart, hilarious to watch play, and he has a villainous RBF face when he’s sleepy but being cuddly does not make the list. That’s okay!! There are plenty of cat-loving folks who just love having a cat in their home. They love the magic and the mystery that sharing their home with a cat brings but they like a cat who isn’t needy. Those people exist and we need you to SHARE THIS POST to help guide them to Mr. Sparky!!

Sparky is approximately 14 weeks old, neutered, up to date on shots and dewormed. He’s is ready to go home whenever his new family finds him!! Sparky’s favorite pastime is PLAYING with all of his foster kitten friends. As such, he must go home with another kitten to help him grow into the most self-confident, well-balanced adult cat. If you already have a young, playful kitten or cat at home that may be in need of a friend, that works too!!
