I would like to announce that we have a new addition to our Post family.
Callen Jernigan was born yesterday, 6lbs, 11oz, 19in. Boo says Francis and Son are doing well.
NOTE: I was told no pictures as Francis would kick my A$&. I have agreed to comply.

We want to Welcome Aboard the following members: Ken Layre, (LM Transfer), Adam McGill (LM Transfer), Sharalee Twitty, (Inst LM), Lynn Primeaux (LM MAL Transfer), Dereck Cobble, (NEW LM) and our very own Brian"Boats"Combs who was upgraded from Annual to Life Member as voted on by the Post Membership at last nights meeting.

The VFW Department of Virginia was well represented.
Note: Dept of Va was the FIRST Dept to have a receiving line to congratulate all the awardees. The rest of the Dept's then followed suit. Dept of Va setting the STANDARD.

13 July CORRECTION: As National has completed the year end review and posted the official results on 12 July, our placing has changed. Instead of finishing 6th, WE FINISHED IN 3rd out of 1275 posts nation wide.

This past weekend was a VERY busy weekend for the Post. The Post Cdr Rob Meade and QM Ron Wright were in Williamsburg for the VFW Dept of Va State Convention, accepting All State Award and other Post Awards. On Friday, SVC Rob Beckett, JRVC Jeff Gilliam, members Ryan Boyd and Dan Gentry represented VFW Post 12217 at Albert G Horton cemetery for the funeral of Gary Dunbar, District 2 Service Officer. On Saturday, The Post fundraising store had a sidewalk sale/ recruiting event. Store Mgr Tesha Boyd, Members Ryan Boyd, Deron and Kayla Coleman, Mike Conn along with our OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEERS, Karen Meade, Kathy Holland, Pat Stanley and Monica Beckett raised over $1100.00 for the Post while handing out 10 membership apps and making some great contacts in the community. Saturday also saw some much needed roof repair work for the Post. Lead by SVC Rob Beckett, members Ryan Boyd, Cordie Glover, Justin Turner, Ron Aylward, Steven Keene and James Wendt and his son Jimmy Wendt started on the much needed roof repair for the Post. Some VERY HOT AND NASTY WORK that also continued into Sunday.
I want to extend my most heartfelt gratitude to the Officers, Members and our wonderful Volunteers for all the effort and time put in this weekend.
