The Suffolk Downtown Public Library is open! It is gorgeous with all sort of amenities making it a community center. Yes, there are books, computers, imagination and play areas, a teen center, and creative opportunities. Check out the study and meeting rooms, the second floor terrace and outdoor seating, periodicals, tool loans and more.

Two of our Civic League members played important roles in making the new library a reality. Clint Rudy is Director of Libraries for Suffolk and spent years planning the facility, taking great care to think of the big picture, collect community input and consider even the tiniest of details, making it welcoming and relevant to all Suffolk residents. John Rector, Suffolk borough's City Council representative has championed this project since its inception. Thank you Clint and John and the many others within and outside our Civic League who made the dream a reality.

Civic league members showed up at the Historic Oak Lawn Cemetery on Sunday to lend a hand in reclaiming graves from the encroaching forest and honoring the memories of cherished Suffolk residents. You can help too - every Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Bring gloves, loppers, saws, rakes and other tools.
